Will be interesting to see what points Neville will touch when it comes to comparing 3-5-2 and 4-4-2.

For sure he will say United tradition is about fast wingers and say Mata is not a United type player.

While I agree that it is too early to cast him aside I don't think it's fair to say that the only reason he hasn't shown his qualities is because of Van Gaal's system. He has had about ten clear cut (some verging on easy) chances that he has failed to put away so far in his Utd career which have had absolutely nothing to do with any systems. Plain and simple poor finishing. He needs to sharpen up his finishing. He's had a decent run lately and on Saturday he was still missing git edged chances.

He wasn't even in the squad last week and has had 3 full games in the last 12 of UTD games, featuring in 8 of those games in total, with two of those being 13mins apperances and another being 21 mins.

Thats not much of a run.

I wonder what assistant Ryan Giggs thinks of it all

Not having much of a say in terms of our shape it seems

Remember LVG saying before the City game that Giggsy does reports on the opposition,

Maybe Giggsy should start throwing into his reports what formation he thinks would work best :)

Valencia confirm Man Utd have made a bid for Ottamendi.

Fletcher and Ottamendi straight swap :p

They must really rate him, he's only played about 20 games and turning down more than triple what they paid for him last February

Seemingly the club are going to go back and revisit the deal that is in place, from early in the season. Everything was done and dusted, with United having the option to enact the deal end of loan.

Obviously with injury, form and return, it's wise that the club revist the original deal, which at present doesn't look to be much value.
Was chatting to a Spurs fan about the Falcao situation...ie his injury ravaged time at club...interspersed by decent showings in games. His point was that Utd would be mad to go through with the huge money deal agreed in principle when he signed on loan....and that if they try to sign him permanently his lack of momentum in staying injury free since August should be a HUGE factor in the amount that Utd would pay for him.

I first heard of him at the 2010 World Cup. He was Maradona's blue eyed boy and a surprising inclusion but was a bit **** even though Maradona said he was the only player trying out on the pitch.

Saw him a few times for Porto and was unimpressed and I've seen him twice this year at Valencia where he has looked solid but unspectacular. His agent is Mendes so I'd be taking this with a massive pinch of salt. Do not want, from what I've seen of him.

I missed Neville's discussion on MNF, was there anything said about United worth mentioning here?

While looking to see if it was online yet, I found some twitter banter between Neville and Carragher from earlier today, it's all in this joe.ie article.

Somehow, I think these 2 lads are going to be at this for decades to come!

Any of these should have it in the next hour or so...

    www.reddit.com/r/soccer
    www.reddit.com/r/nevillepunditry

...although that last one doesn't seem to have been updated in almost a month. The first 2 should have it soon enough though.

Pereira going the way of Pogba maybe

In fairness, dozens of young have players have left our reserves in last decade due to being unable to break through to first team. Pogba was an exception as opposed to the norm. The vast majority of the rest of them Have been no more than mid table players since they left.

Rossi and Pique could be lumped in there but they were diffenent in the sense that they left to return back "home" and were vying for positions that we had world class, about to become champions league winning players , already in.

How good does Peirerra look in the reserves?

Nice video showing the highlights of Blind's time in a United jersey so far. You might want to make use of the mute button though...

A quality player for us so far, can't be said enough.

    Blind
    Herrea.........Di Maria
    ...........Mata............

Would love to see this line-up for CM/ACM used vs Cambridge, with Falcao and Wilson given a run up front. If by half-time it proves to be too weak defensively, against f*cking Cambridge, then change it up.

I really like Blind as every time he plays he puts in a good performance and brings a lot of balance to the team. I'd love him to start along with Herrera in midfield as they link up extremely well.
