Booked with KLM, flying with Aer Lingus - on-line check-in?

    Hi folks,
As title says, booked KLM Dub-Kiev. I can log-in on KLM website and choose my seat for the KLM section of the trip (Amsterdam - Kiev), however Dub - Amsterdam is with Aer Lingus.

The flight isin't for over a month so no panic, but the day before I want to check-in online - should I be able to do this on the KLM website, or the Aer Lingus website?

    Many thanks :)

    Neither.

You rock up to the desk to check in on the day.

Thanks for the info. Bit of a bugger as there's 5 of us on separate bookings so may not get to sit together.

We were able to log-in to the KLM website and pick our seats for the KLM flight, but not the Aer Lingus segment

Yea it's a bit of a pain but it's only an hour in the air to amsterdam so unless you have young kids, I reckon you'll manage without your mates!

If you are a family, AL should try to accommodate you best as possible.

Web check in opens online 30 hours before departure. This could give you a better chance of securing seats near each other, rather than waiting til you get to the airport. You can still opt to print boarding passes at the airport kiosks, but at least your seat will be selected.

Nope. This isn't possible when your ticketed with KLM.

Why not e-mail them an ask for the PNR, should be possible for them to supply it.

It's really simple, you cannot check in online for an Aer Lingus flight booked as a KLM flight. They don't allow it. Airport only. No way round it, I've tried before and now just accept it

If you get to the airport early it should be easy enough to get seats together. With the machines in the airport you have the choice of picking your seat over the one assigned to you. Get the first person to pick in a empty row and take note of the number then everyone else check in straight after them and pick the seats next to it.

You have to go to the desk if you have a klm ticket

I've done it before, would be worth contacting them to see if its still possible.

    KLM are never consistent :)

Checking in via KLM.com is not possible if the first flight of your journey (out- or inbound) is with Aer Lingus: please check in via the Aer Lingus website or at the airport.

Just rock up to the check in

    1. You most likely have bags to check in (and EI will through check)
    2. EI will issue the boarding cards for the onward leg in Dublin
    3. EI are normally very helpful to get seats together, not all seats are available via online check in.

In a strange quirk, the KLM self service check in machines in Amsterdam will let you check in for an Aer Lingus flight.

Those machines are multi airline, lots of airports have them. I guess they'd be wasted in T2 with so few airlines using it

I agree EI will seat you together where possible.

It's not a strange quirk, Aer Lingus codeshare with KLM, you just check in using your Ticket and Flight number like you do for any other SkyTeam or code share airline.
