You say that like it's the only style that everyone must strive to master.

That why Liverpool press better than Man Utd.
A bit weird having to explain it tbh feels like im talking to 10 year olds.
Yes, you're right, Liverpool run after the ball more.

Teams that press are not always possession teams. Being able to win the ball back high up the pitch helps creates chances alot easier because there isnt 9 or 10 players behind the ball.

You are right in what you are saying but the lads are also right. Utd play a different style of game.

I believe managers need to be adapable to different styles. Definetly don't think its a style everyone has to strive to just think than Van Gaal playing Di Maria up front & using Wilson a bit because of his speed that he will look for pacy players in the summer.
Never said Man Utd have to play that style either. Just replying to a poster saying why Man Utd don't press.

I agree, he will want quicker forwards, there is not much pace in the forward line. That doesn't go hand in hand with an aggressive pressing style though.

Yeah, it was me. I said United don't play that aggressive pressing style and you said they don't have the players to. Pointless argument unless that style is the one he definitely wants to play.

I wasn't saying they will go a pressing style just that they doen't have the midfield players to play that style. I do think they will target a dynamic midfielder like Vidal,Sneiderlein in the summer though.

Bebe has signed for Cordoba in La Liga on loan.

He has gone straight into their first 11 and has completed two full games in a week , in which they picked up a win and a draw and have moved clear of relegation to 14th.

I think they play Real Madrid next, worth a look at that one as there is a good chance he will play.

My issue with Jones taking the corners is that he is probably one of only 2 players who I would fancy to attack the ball in the opposing area from a corner

Corners are such a non event I just don't understand the drama bombs about them. Nobody scores from corners, who cares.

Is Bebe still technically a Manchester United player? He was awful.

Nope, signed for Benfica last year, now on loan at Cordoba.

Delighted to see him doing well for himself.

He's gotten some absolute belters as well. All of the above are for Pacos de Ferreira last season. Portuguese league is his level though, he was always in way over his head with us.

Fergie said in his book that Mourinho was going to buy Bébe if we didn't. He might have appeared rubbish but clearly he has some proper talent.
    Edit: Mourinho at madrid

LVG has quoted Rooney's fitness as the reason why he is playing him in midfield. Is it that he doesn't see our obvious midfielders as capable of running for 90 minutes ?

"He has the lung capacity to run 90 minutes as a midfielder," said Van Gaal. "That's why I used him like a midfielder. I can also use him as a striker. For the team at the moment, it's better he plays in midfield."

    Bullshit.

Sure Valencia has the lung capacity to run for 180 minutes. Let's play him in midfield too!

Does he maybe mean that players are coming back from injury? Blind, Ander, Fellaini?

So he is the only fit one capable of playing a full game without Anderson starting, which is better for the team.

    Clutching at straws?

.... Ya a manager of his experience gave into the crowd.

I gather you don't like him. Do you want him fired? Who do we replace him with?

I don't like his style at the moment, I don't want him fired but I do want him to change his tactics and I reckon 99.9% of fans are behind me on that.

Its not even hard to change, some of it is the most basic principals of football.

end the 3 at the back, it is clearly not working.

    Take rooney out of midfield

take di maria out of the forward line

Im sure we can all agree on these 3?

haha as much as I thought the above was a bit reckless considering he was on a yellow, for some reason found myself loving it.

I guess we all still love that old school hard challenge or of the ball ruff housing!

Am really taking a liking to Rojo. As a commentator was mentioning during the game, Zamora is a pretty "armsy" guy playing at home, getting rough with centre halves, and in every instance Zamora ended up on his backside.

Has the look of a guy who won't be bullied and will give as good as he gets. Reminds me a bit of Heinze in a way.

Third best defence in the country did I read this morning? Conceeded one less then City, one more then Chelsea? I'd attribute that down to De Gea, but that's pretty good going considering the issues at the back.

Lets not get carried away here.

hmmm i dunno, im going to games for 10 years now and this football is as bad as ive seen apart from 2005 perhaps , which is even worse considering the players we signed in the summer- our 2005 team was awful.

stats can tell alot of lies, but when you look at the basic ones this year - shots, chances created, long balls etc etc, they are as bad as theyve been for years and the results in fairness, are not far behind.

the reality is, apart from the results in the bigger games, we have certainly not improved under LVG so far and if it wasnt for De Gea, we'd probably be 8th now.

More worrying for me is that we are getting worse rather than better. There were a few signs of good things earlier in the season, but these past 6/7 games have been toxic.

Its almost as if the players are getting more confused than ever about what the manager wants them to do and this is reflected on the field. Its remarkably similar to last season unfortunately.

id just love to know, why the hate for moyes last year when what van gaal has done this season is much worse?

Moyes didnt deserve the job, its that simple. he had no respect from the players, no clue or respect in the transfer market, the club and job was too big for him and he turned a league winning team into 7th place in the league. he made mistake after mistake.

LVG by all intents and purpose, deserved a shot at it and is/was perhaps, the ideal replacement for Ferguson apart from Jose.

why is LVG getting a free pass? well first answer is he is not, theres been alot of discontent over the last few weeks and deservedly so. the second answer is that no matter how s*it weve been doing, the important factor was that 4 of the 6 teams who finished above us have been even worse, until mid december. LVG took over a 7th place team and a broken one as he called it. up until the last few days of the window, at which we'd already dropped 7 points, we essentially had a weaker squad than last season.

weve also had a horrific injury list.

the other side of things is no matter what was said on here and in the media, Moyes got more patience and support than any manager got over the last decade in the PL. he'd have been sacked and driven out of the ground by early December in most clubs, especially the bigger ones.

You can keep banging on about it, but honestly, I do think there's a difference.

Last year, not only were we devoid of creativity, we were devoid of confidence as well, and we had a manager who was not only tactically inept, but lacked media savey and mucked up transfer windows, while telling us we were lucky to be in 7th.

This year, LVG is still on track to achieve what most people would have set as the goals for the season (top 4; though the unbeaten run round Xmas, coupled with heart-and-ballsy performances against Chelsea and City made people suddenly think everything was fixed again and we should be challanging for the title). So when we enter a shaky patch, suddenly people are going nuts.

LVG escapes the criticisms Moyes did because he has a better attitude, has better credentials, had a better first transfer window, and yet still has to put up with several problems Moyes did; namely, what to do with Rooney, what to do about our awful defense and wingers, and how to make do with what we have while trying to draw in bigger names.

We're in a patch of bad form; all teams hit that at various points. But I, for one, am not going to be throwing a fit when he looks on track to achieve the goals set out at the start of the year. Moyes was horrendous, a lot worse than LVG, but the benefit of time seems to have eased some people's memories of how bad that got. Not saying LVG is setting the world alight but from day one, it was set out to be a multi-year project to rebuild the team. So going nuts because it's not all magically fixed 5 months into the season seems very overreactionary.

It feels like we skipped "growing sense of unease" and lept straight from "We're winning the title again!" to "Spoofer, sack him, we're horrendous, it's as bad as it's ever been"....

A good run from now until March 14th could do the world of good.

All winnable ties and be nice to have another "unbeaten run" coming into the Liverpool game. Assuming there is no major injury crisis and our squad comes back to fitness and we can get a settled formation ,shape and starting 11 then I I'm not overly concerned about finishing outside the top 4.
