I have seen a few gay couples holding hands in Dublin city centre

I wouldn't hold hands and I'm not gay.

I'm more surprised his only 36 seems a lot older

Why has this reached 30 pages if no-one cares :pac:

The leadership of FG? If it were Labour maybe.

Yes, true, but if he were elected leader, I think he would win the election for fg.

Imagine Leo as Taoiseach and being in Russia shaking the hand of Vlad Putin.....perfect!

Interesting that on the LGBT forum, the thread didn't even manage ONE page.

So it seems that no one who is gay seems to care very much anyway.

Not that strange really. Vlad just hasn't got round to coming out himself yet.

Haven't you noticed all the homo-erotic poses in Pravda over the years...?

who cares, this vile man is a minister for one of the worst governments in the history of the state, how many people are currently on hospital trolleys, how many people have died on hospital trolleys, how much austerity, cronyism, lies, deceit not to mention water charges have they imposed on Irish people, i couldn't care less if he announced he was transexual it changes nothing, he along with the rest of the parasites have to be removed from office as soon as possible.

I think Leo is eyeing the leadership as Enda's performance has been truly abysmal with his own party expressing dissatisfaction over the whip and such, and Labour TDs being told to go out and "differentiate" themselves from FG

I think Enda could be gone before the GE (probably to some cushy number in Europe) which would allow the new leader to contest the election on a semi "clean slate" with the public. Leo being popular and seen as liberal, youthful and "one of the better ones" would only help that idea.

Richard Bruton would gunning for the top job surely. He rebelled before

Varadkar can eye the leadership all he wants but he's not the front runner in his own party. Also he has never topped the poll in Dublin West which Bruton does with ease

Simon Coveney would have a shot too

If you look at the thread its mostly talk about other lgbt related issues ...not 30 pages of 'omg leos gay!'

& also the lgbt forum is dead. So few replies to any threads on there.

No gay couple (including me) would hold hands on O'Connell street, Henry Street, Abbey Street, Jervis Street, Parnell Street or along the quays - which I would all consider as city centre. You are of course entitled to your arbitrary definition of thr city centre as "Grafton Street" though.
That's simply untrue. Twisted Pepper for one, there's regularly couples of all proclivities wearing the faces off each other sitting outside.

I couldn't careless about his or any other politicians sexual orientation. Him coming out makes him no less of a gobshyte.

Explain how it is media whoring?

His ultimate goal must be leader of the country and far better for him to come out bow than some smutty tabloid digging up dirt on him in his run up. I don't think it is media whoring at all and think its very brave of him.

Not that it should matter one bit if he is gay or not!:

    Exactly!

Gay or Straight you can feck off with the rest of them in 2016, Varadkar! Good riddence

Why did you bother to comment if you don't care?

All of whom (if they are outside) are running the risk of being verbally abused.

I don't doubt that you are a well meaning and accepting individual, but when you pass a gay couple who are having a kiss or a hug, you have no idea if someone else is going to be abusing them 5 minutes later. It kills me that people don't understand this.

So now he's deflecting from the HSE and has a big mouth.

Maybe stupid reactions like that are the reason it's still a big deal.

People care about the HSE, as it impacts (or will potentially impact ) everybody .

A lot of people simply don't care about politicians' private lives, you just need to accept that.

    It's not a big deal

Seeing as your being a little dramatic, I have the perfect song

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his scorn
    With his scorn

I don't want to see any couples "wearing" the face of one another in public in the middle of the day. It's disgusting.

If only that meant that every "I don't care" poster was going to vote in favour of SSM. Wishful thinking I fear.
