Have to say I'm looking forward to seeing new jerseys and ones in future.

We are bound to have some nice kits. Last few years have been hit and miss.

L'Equippe have talks of a Pogba for Cavani deal being discussed. We are semi linked with both so I guess they are cutting out the middle man :P

I hope that's real because if it is they can take my money for it now.

People keep mentioning Pogba but did the guy not come out and say he never wants to play for united again and hates the place? Or was it aimed at Ferguson solely and not the club?

Can we just bring back Scholes and be done with it?

I know somebody who has seen the 3 kits. The home and away are meant to be very nice and the third kit is not so much. I'll ask him in the morning if that white one is legit, the red one doing the rounds definitely isn't, according to him.

Im gonna call Bullshhit on all the kits we've seen so far. Way too early for these photoshopped kits to be doing the rounds.

Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett have been free to talk to other clubs since January 1st and have still not been offered extensions. [bbc]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,534 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

No issue with McNair leaving. He has given his all but I don't think he is of United's level and has only played due to our chronic defensive injuries. Blackett I think is of a higher standard and apart from the Leicester game he hasn't looked too bad. Could go on to be a decent squad player for a while. If we do bring in another CB maybe a new contract followed by a loan deal or else get rid of Evams and have Blackett replace him in the pecking order.

The transfer summit story annoys me.

On an assumption it is true (for the sake of argument) why the feck would we be waiting til half way through the transfer window to have a discussion on whether we will buy in the january transfer window? Why would this type of thing not be done in advance? Why decide to wait to the last moments to act?

You would nearly think the journalists had a slow news day so decided to recycle a story from the summer again...

There should be a sweepstake on when the Wesley Sneijder rumours start up again.

I would rather the management play the right players in the right positions, with the right formation and tactics, then splash the cash now.

A CB would be nice, but we have enough quality to get top 4.

its not the lack of quality players thats the problem.

The problem is the lack of pace in the side - everything is far too laboured. Especially on the right hand side.

I think Ed Woodward has flown home from Australia early to attend this summit.

like I said here before, its like a game of cat and mouse, no club is going to start bidding on players right at the start of the transfer window, just doesn't make sense for either club. obviously potential targets have already been identified and this meeting (if true) is to see whether the other club is willing to sell in January. Very hard to buy a player in Jan unless the other club is happy to sell, if not or they are unsure, a lot of deals are done in the final hours of the window as one club calls another clubs bluff..

We're being linked with Pablo Dybala a lot lately.

Willy-tingling excitement if that comes off. Potential superstar.

Their chairman yesterday confirmed he rejected an approach from us this window already. Outlined the club will struggle to hold onto him, but that they won't consider selling until the summer.

And he will accept nothing short of 40m

this is the sort of transfer bluffing im on about, if united go in now they will pay top price, if they wait until the window is about to close they pay a lot less if Palermo are willing to sell now

I'd say any potential targets have well being outlined and scouted already this season. It's most likely a meeting for the stakeholders to agree the priority list and for their to be no ambiguity, and then for Woodward to go do it.

Obviously Van Gaal needs to be focusing on the preparation and the matches. One of those managers that doesn't get involved in transfers bar naming who he wants.

Football changes quickly, we were on a good run that came to an end, the manager has had half a season with the squad, and maybe now with everyone back fit he realises there are those that need to go and arn't good enough, and maybe realises what really needs beefing up.

Considering the world and its mother knows we are buying players, and we have the money, we will pay top dollar for any target, as usual. So I don't think it's any major problem, Woodward just goes in high from the get go to get the business done.

That's if this has any sort of accuracy what so ever. Have to say, if there is any accuracy in those stories ( which I doubt there is) spending 300m in a season, pretty much means Van Gaal needs to win the title next season and do well in the CL or get sacked.

Well according to their chairman they are 100% not selling now, that wonderful European phrase
In this moment, we are calm

We arn't the only interested club either, as Mikey says everyone knows he is hot property, so it would be a real display of financial power if we could land him.

Granted I havn't seen much this week that I find believable or even plausible, I am pretty much resigned to the fact Falcao won't be staying end of season.

Thats not his point. Obviously there will be a game of cat and mouse when it comes to the actual job of completing the transfer, but nothing is stopping the management of the club doing some forward planning.

Why wait until the window is open before discussing deals? Why not have all your planning done in November/December so that you know who you want and can get on with the cat and mouse games when the window opens.

Its clearly a nonsense article because United would have to be complete idiots to not already know what they want to do regarding players coming and going. Although saying that, it was clear we desperately needed players last January as well and look how that turned out, ended up over paying for a player we didn't need and that didn't address any of our problems. Maybe history will repeat itself.

To be honest if a meeting is actually taking place, I don't think it will be as much about "who to sign" but more who to let go.

I'd be pretty confident that throughout the course of the season scouts have been around Europe monitoring and reporting on potential transfer targets.

But after this much into the season, and with various players coming back from injury, it might be more about Van Gaal outlining who he doesn't need anymore.

Fletcher and Januzaj look very likely exits this window. Janners on loan most likely to gain some experience.

LVG's press conference is today at 11:30 by the way, normally he runs his Friday conferences at 16:00. Read into that what you want I guess?

Press conference is earlier because they've to travel all the way down to London tonight.

yes that's exactly what it is. targets have already been identified and its more of a can we get them now or do we have to wait until summer meeting and like you said, players leaving the club will be giving the green light today
