Van Persie is doubtful, everyone else bar Young is available, hopefully its now time to see a flat back 4 and Rooney and Falcao up top together.

RVP is out so Falcao will start, I'd like to see 4-2-3-1 IMO:

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Carrick ---- Blind
Herrera -- Rooney -- Di Maria
    Falcao

    OR...

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Carrick | Blind
    Herrera
    Di Maria
    Rooney -- Falcao

    Today's conference as well.

He says Falcao is happy and we have to wait and see if he plays because it makes it easier for our opponents if we discuss this. He also has to prove himself.

What we are really going to see is 3 at the back again....hope to **** LVG addresses this

Interesting analysis of our 4-0 win against QPR last time, main points going to how the diamond suits Di Maria and Blind for attacks and defence.

    http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29201077

NOTE: Austin only got 1 shot off against us in that game!

QPR were away that time. QPR at home might as well be a completely different club. Their away form is one of the most laughable things in English football right now. Their home form is adequate. United seem to struggle against adequate.

They're absolutely atrocious away from home. Played 10, lost 10.

But they actually have a better home record than the likes of Spurs and Liverpool and have only lost twice there this season.

    Going to be seriously tough.

    Edit: What Maximus said.

There's a lot of chatter that Harry will get the sack if they lose tomorrow. Hopefully there's a chunk of players that want him sacked and they don't try a leg against us.

It could work the other way though and they fight tooth and nail for a result.

It doesnt say much for utd when fans think its going to be tough playing a team that is essentially relegation fodder and the attacking players we have.

We really should be winning these games comfortably.

""When we buy a player he has to be better than the players that are playing now and that is a difficult job."

    Really?

considering how much weaker our financial results will be this season, if we dont get CL football next season we wont be spending anywhere near to £150 million even taking into account the Adidas deal.

It's sad given the players we have, the money spent that this is what we have to rely on against the likes of qpr.

Have to earn that first. For all we know he could be training and not adapting to Van Gaals methods. If RVP, Mata and Rooney are doing better than him Monday to Friday and we're winning games then he's justified as a manager. We lost last week fair enough but we were unbeaten for a long while before that. He'll get a chance tomorrow and hopefully he takes it. But aside from a few glimpses I haven't seen anything that screams to me that he should start every week.

I think we need to sort out the defence and mifield problems before we will see the best of our forward players.

In defence we need better players. In midfield we need better management.

In midfield we need better management.

    And better players. :)

    And better players. :)

I actually think the quality is there now that they are fit.
Blind/Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Di Maria, Mata.

Now I know the case is there that Mata isn't a midfielder, but I think a midfield 3 of Carrick/Blind and the base and Herrera & Di Maria the other two, would be an improvement over what has played there recently.
With Mata at the head, just behind Rooney/Falcao.

    And better players. :)

    Blind
    --Herrera-Di Maria
    Mata

I don't see much wrong with the players, to be honest.

Bags of energy in the central two. Good ball use and positioning from Blind and Mata is a top player.

Put two competent central defenders behind that and get some width from the full backs (combining with Herrera, Di Maria and the Forwards moving wide if required) and you have a very good side, imo.

Rafael being consistently injured is screwing us at right back with Valencia being the only other (crap) option. Smalling, Jones, Evans haven't proven themselves capable enough consistently in midfield and Shaw is suffering a lot of injuries too.

We need 1 CB, at least (to partner Rojo on assumption that Rojo isn't gack) and a right back because I'm fed up with Rafael only lasting two games.

Carrick is clearly a better DM than Blind IMO.

He also turns 34 this year. Blind is the future. I thought Blind was excellent when he got an extended run in the team at the start of the year.

I would have falcoa in the squad before i would have james wilson

I don't think either of them are the future and I thought Blind was overrated at the start of the season. Carrick has better positioning and a longer range of passing.

I'd rate Blind as a very good squad player for now.

Just because our midfield has improved does not mean it is good enough yet, we are still a long way off having a midfield that can genuinely compete with the very best. That should be our aim, lets not settle for guys that are just solid.

Its better than having Cleverley in there, but the midfield posted above is still not good enough for where we want to be.

I think Blind and Carrick offer different things.

    Carrick is more accomplished defensively.

Blind plays the ball that bit quicker.

Really depends on the priorities for the game.

it doesn't work like that though for any team really.. city went there and could only get a draw. no such thing as an easy away game in the premier league

QPR are absolute muck this season. Yes, they've a decent home record but if we can take control of the game like we did in Old Trafford, we should win easily. The problem is we just can't seem to be able to control a game playing 3-5-2. The only game I can remember us controlling from start to finish was Hull City. I'd like to see a 4-1-2-1-2 or a 4-3-3 with Falcao and Rooney up top in both cases.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,140 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

In fairness there recent home record aint up to much lately either

I'm convinced they are going down, anything short of a convincing win here is not acceptable in my book. I'm going to stop giving the team an excuse or get out before the match starts. Too often this season after bad results I'm giving them excuses.

So to set my stall out, anything less then convincing win is unacceptable(in my book)

Think Blind has been our best signing this season. Di Maria and Falcao, amazing players, haven't been as good as they probably want to have been but Blind always puts in a performance. Was out for a month or two and came back in last week and didn't put a foot wrong. Really underrated player and probably one of our most intelligent.

Him and Rojo both very very good signings I think.

Blind is the new Michael Carrick. A disciplined but technically limited midfielder who gets far more praise than he deserves.

Seriously though. He has played what, 8 games this season? He never tripped over his laces or anything but lets not get carried away, he hasn't exactly been tearing up the premier league.
