SHANNON AIRPORT SW 23 Gust 42

If thats the case, Shannon may see a slightly windier repeat of the night a few days ago:P

The Pilots are so calm. In the midst of this.

To me as a pax, that is the business.

    What more can I say?

    Question.

I notice a difference in the altitude showing on FR24 than that reported by aircraft. Am I right in assuming that this because FR24 is using 1013hPa as the pressure reference rather than local QNH?

    Ei247M gone to Shannon

Switching operations to 28 shortly, looks like a worse-crosswind though.

    It's not. Wind is 230 meaning 50 degree x wind for 28 and 70 degree x wind for 16.

Is 'this' any thing though? Is there really any reason why they should not be calm ? No planes are not going to get down safely.

    Hats off to all.

Do people actually realise what's involved in all this?

    Fair weather or foul?

I've learnt a lot here. Thanks to all.

Anyone know what's going on with the Gulfstream over Clare? Is it landing in Shannon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,487 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

May I ask is their extra ground handling crew in SNN this evening to handle diversions?

    G'wan EI611!
Echo sentiments of others, hats off to all professionals involved here.

They appear everywhere. Its the equivalent of asking where is the BMW going on the motorway.

Something tells me the 247M pilot was perfectly ok with diverting to SNN, judging by his accent! ;-)

Any cost savings on aviation fuel due to low oil prices are being used up tonight over Dublin...

In fairness for non professional pilots it is an amazing feat to get the plane off, up, and down.

More so when weather is against them.

I am just complimenting people. We don't know when we are back in the cabin and rocking around what the hell is happening.

I know more about that now.
