    Press conference for why?

There would ordinary be a press conference in the afternoon following the weekly cabinet meeting that was held earlier today. They probably just changed the agenda around knowing that this will be something very much in the headlines tomorrow. It won't be the only thing discussed.

Fairly blowy in Kildare. Wind steadily increasing.

A thoroughly miserable day in Galway City. Nothing over and above usual miserable January weather. However, the wind has started whipping up a bit in the last hour. The QNH has been dropping like a stone all day, down to 971hpa now and still dropping.

Can hear a few howls here alright but nothing significant on the surface, once the winds veer west things will pick up for sure as winds will blow up the estuary.

Very wet and windy in Cork City at the moment.

Some scaffolders are up on a roof trying to tie down/secure a partially retiled roof !!!
