RVP only deserves a new contract if its lowered taking into consideration his age. Evans is 27 now and isnt good enough. Smalling & Jones should be given a new contract but no increase in wages.

Mata simply doesn't offer enough. We need a number 10 who can score goals and offer more off the ball. Mata is anonymous in most games outside of offering a great pass every now and then.

Mata can't score goals? That's one of the things he has been doing. Also he is a better playmaker than Rooney and has a better eye for the kind of passes around the box that Falcao and Van Persie sorely need. I agree that he is anonymous in most games.

Only other option is Rooney, and when he plays 10 he floats all around the pitch and comes deep to get the ball. When he receives it then he's sixty yards from goal and all he can do is try a hollywood pass out to Valencia. Or else he'll pass it to Falcao, who receives it forty yards from the goal with his back to it. And people wonder why Falcao is struggling? It's happening every game so far and getting worse, because it's so easy to play against and the other teams have figured it out.

I think we need Rooney up front, dropping back, going wide, pulling defenders around so that the wing backs and Di Maria have space to run into, and Carrick/Mata/Herrera have options for a through ball. He's wasted in midfield.

    Van Persie: Keep.
    Evans: Siya.
    Jones: Siya.
    Smalling: Keep.
    Rafael: Keep, for back-up.

Since everyone is at it, the team I'd like to see is

    De Gea
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera Blind Di Maria
    Mata
    Falcao

Why don't we try 4-2-3-1, we seem to have the players to accommodate it...
    De Gea

    RB - CB - CB - Shaw

    Carrick - Blind (Herrera?)

Di Maria - Rooney - Mata

    Van Persie (Falcao?)

Jones is still very young. I'd keep him

We tried it against West Brom and Chelsea.

    DDG

    Rafa
    Rojo
    Smalling
    Shaw

    Blind
    Mata
    Carrick

    Di Maria
    Falcao
    Rooney

Subs : Valdez, Jones, Young, Herrera, Felaini, Januzaj, RVP

I'd like to see Evans shipped out quick time. You also have to think that Wilson may not be up to standard although it's early days he looks a pretty one dimensional player. Unfortunately Fletcher also seems to be a shadow of his former self and needs to go :(

I wouldn't mind seeing Falcao get an extended run as our main striker either.

Falcao has only played 604 minutes. No wonder he has barely got going - thats nothing at all

he is in his 4th season at the club and still cannot pass a football or do anything, he has not improved since he joined the club.

Jones is grand as a back up center half that can play in the fa cup/league cup, deadwood european games and the PL games againsst the bottom half of the league.

on that basis id keep him, but no way should a player like him be first choice.

LVG must have some underlying issue with Falcao. Theres no other reason why he deserved to be dropped from the squad for last weeks game.

It's not far off in fairness. He has a bit of a cult status with some sections of the fanbase for some reason, probably because of what Fergie said about him. Jones in all likelihood will be part of the next cull and will not be missed. As said, it's his fourth season, his ability to stay fit is woeful and he's a lot more poor performances than good.

While I'm not Jones' biggest fan, I do prefer him over Evans and Smalling but he's only 22. The other 2 are at ages where they should be in or around their peak, Smalling not so close but Evans certainly.

I think Smalling is the best from those 3, Evans being the worst. Smalling has been great defensively when he's played bar that match against City. His injuries are what worry me to be honest. That and his passing ability.

Smalling was shocking at the weekend

His agent says he will leave Italy sooner rather than later.

Phil Jones hasn't progressed as a footballer since he arrived at the club. His football skills, ball control, touch and passing are very poor for a player of his level. Most of his passing is safe sideways passing, to the right back most of the time. He rarely passes to a player in a better position than he is. I do believe though that this could be attributed to his ability to play different positions. When he first joined he played alot at right back and in midfield, he done OK here but he wasn't getting valuable experience at centre back which is his position imo. I don't think he should be gotten rid of just yet. He does have a huge 18 months ahead of him. Would like to see him stay fit and get a run in the team. If he continues to make mistakes and or getting injured then we may need to make a decision on him in 18 months.

Reckon this would be a good move for Fletch, he is finished with United, but still think he could do a job in a lower EPL team

Wouldn’t have thought RVP has played more than Rooney, interesting.
As much as I want Falcao to start banging them in, the stat I’d most like to see changed on that is Wilson’s

Fletcher has been finished for years now, its been a long time since he was a viable squad option. He only has about 40 appearances in the last four seasons with the vast majority of those substitute appearances, frankly he's only still there out of loyalty and because of our horrendous squad management in the recent past.
