    Hi All ,
Looking for some help/advise on my daughter's car , it has just failed an NCT retest on Emissions.
Results of first test were as follows:
    Low idle
    CO 0.54% ......above 0.50% fail
    HC 172 ppm ..... Above 0 ppm N/A

    High idle
    Lambda 1.05 .....not between 0.97 and 1.03 .. fail
    CO 0.54% ...... above 0.30% fail
HC 172 ppm .... above 200 ppm pass

Prior to retest I fitted a different Lambda Sensor (not new) and ran some dipetane through to try to sort it .
    Results of retest below

    Low idle
    CO 0.80% ..... above 0.50% fail
    HC 203ppm ....above 0ppm N/A

    High idle
    Lambda 0.87...not between 0.97 and 1.03 .. fail
    CO 5.25% ...... above 0.30% fail
HC 176 ppm .... above 200 ppm pass

Temperature was 81 degrees C on both tests

not sure where to go from here on this, would anyone have any ideas on what would be the cause of the above readings or is it a combination of things .
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated .

Try a brand new lambda sensor. Drive the car for 30 minutes before the next test to make sure its warmed up.

    Hoodie ,
thanks for the reply on this , yes I was talking to a few mechanics and some said new Lambda , some said new lambda and cat ,

I just need to get more info before splashing out on a new cat .

The lambda I replaced came out of a car that was running perfect but I suppose being second hand it could be faulty .
I am just worried that there is some secondary issue that is causing these readings like overfuelling etc, That is why I posted up the figures of the tests as I was hoping someone here would be able to interpret them .

    thanks again
