Is alcohol and food very expensive on the ferry? Can we bring beer and munchies with us? It's a long spin so we have to occupy ourselves!

just travelled with them at the weekend.
Food is good value. A feed of beef curry with rice (or chips) and naan bread is 9euro. Or family deal of 2 adult and 3 kids and accompanying drinks for 30euro.

A bottle of wine with the meal is 7euro or something, double the price at the bar, which even then is relatively ok.
A pint of magners cider is 4.10 and stela only a few cent more so again good value.

for a boat with a captive audience its really good value and a good bit cheaper than irish ferries

You can definitely picnic and byo drink, probably even in the extended bar area, but definitely in the other public areas.

I'd recommend not eating in Cherbourg on the return, have had several bad meals there...

There is a big Carrefour about half a km from the port to get food and drink( for the ferry and for here.)
