Does anyone know If ronaldo is earning more than Messi? I remembera few years back after Ronaldo became the highest paid player in Spain that a few Messi transfer rumours cropped up until he became the top earner.
(and Ronaldo does the same thing using United, I know).

Messi signed a deal putting him on top again from what I remember

So its probably just messi wanting the manager gone

looking from the outside, messi is very hard to deal with, he effectively got rid of pep guardiola, the whole can of coke incident basically told pep in front of all the players messi doesn't care what he says, all the top players, zlatan, villa, etoo, Ronaldinho all moved on to cater for messi.

Picking Martino as coach last season was a complete joke, 100% messi.

Picking the argentina tactics at last years world cup just to suit him, and then getting martino as the new argentina boss.. all messi

so you think we will sign him in January?
I'm not saying we will sign him in January. I'm saying that Miguel is wrong if he thinks he isn't on LVG's radar as he is.

Dont want messi anywhere near the club. I do think that LvG wouldnt put up with him and would be backed by the glazers but if performances dropped (I dont think he'll age well) he definitely would be terrible value, wouldnt be value as it is imho.

I can only imagine LVG taking messi off after 65 mins away to QPR and putting RVP up top

Haha... you think Messi would start.

Barca can't buy players so I doubt they'll let Messi leave

Messi will get a new contract out of this and Enrique will get sacked

Would take Ronaldo back over Messi, ever since Xavi started losing it Messi hasn't looked the same. Ronaldo is consistently devastating no matter who's in the team around him.

Actually messi would probably end up as cover for rb, which we need. Splash the cash ed

He'd be injured anyway. Mind you he might bring some of his magic beans that he took as a nipper to get bigger.

No player is worth that, and clubs would be mad to pay it. I reckon it would be around 100m. Which is also silly money, but in today's market...

Didn't Neymar work out at over €100m after barca were found out? ..

I'd guess you'd be looking at €150M+ to even talk to Barcelona, that would only leave 6-7 clubs capable of going for him.
Probably looking at £400-500K a week on wages as well.
IF it happened, it may only happen to a club sponsored by Addidas, open to correction on below, but that leaves 4 teams, and are Chelsea changing kit provider next year?

Real Madrid - Not a chance of another Figo incident happening. (Addidas)
PSG - could well go for him, don't seem to care about FFP.
Monaco - The Falcao sale suggests they can't.
Bayern, could afford it but highly dout they'd see it as good value. They colud spen that amount on German league players and get double benifit of weakening the other teams. (Addidas)
Russian clubs? not at the moment, Rouble is cack and player don't seem too happy when they get there.
Chelsea - Have done well to be there or ther abouts with FFP, doubt they'd blow that by going after him. (Addidas)???
Man City - You never know with them but they appear to be 'trying' to work within FFP
United - Could well afford it, but could do far far better with that money that spunk it on one player. (Addidas)

Costs too rich for MLS at the moment, and he'd hardly be daft enough to take the inevitable offer from Doha FC or whatever they're called?

realisticly I can't see him leaving this side of age 30.

I wouldn't pay that type of silly money for any player in the history of football, never mind Messi or Ronaldo.

You can only have 11 players on the field, and even Lionel Messi on his own doesn't guarantee cups and titles. The so-called greatest player ever in the greatest club team ever and he still has less European cups then Clarence Seedorf.

I'd take him at United of course, but it has to be a rational transfer fee. No individual is a must have, there are tens of thousands of other players out there that can be developed into a successful team.

You can understand the thought process though, these aren't young lads going to a new country and struggling, its a pattern of some of the highest quality footballers in world football, established, proven world class footballers, and all seem to underperform beside Messi. Ibrahimovic, Sanchez, Neymar and now Suarez.

Zlatan stuggled, Neymar took a while to get going but had a decent first season, Sanchez was great for them too.

12 months ago we were talking about the positives of a bid for Leon Osman

Here we are now after 5 months under LVG and argueing about weather we need Messi or not! This thread is mental!!

I'd say FFP could even come into it for us with that kind of money. I'd throw in a bid for €135m and leave it at that.

Looks like Valdes is signing - few places reporting a deal has been agreed. Gutted.

Bye bye Dave... must be off to Madrid in the summer.

would have thought that this reffered to January only, our summer policy will be much different to what it is now.

multiple sources are saying that United will go for Coleman in January, Delaney is saying we wont. he is however saying that CB and DM are the immediate priority from LVG.

thats different to the way you are interpreting it or more to the point, trying to interpret.

Valdes is 32 - could be a back up keeper to DDG - hopefully. If he left Id be gutted too :(

no, we are without doubt the only club that could afford him, (in the proper way, FFP and all that) unless someone like Chelsea sold a hazard fro 60m to offset that.

75m a year from adidas, 50m a year from cheverlot and around 18m a year for the training ground naming rights, that's just 3 of our main sponsors, not even taking into account all of the other 50-100 other sponsors, gate receipts, tv money, shirt sales and other merchandise etc

A keeper who looks after himself can play til 40 or so - s Valdes has potentially 8 years left in him at the top level. I don't see him basically giving up on first team football.

I reckon he, and his advisors, will have been told DDG is gone in the summer, and that is why he is signing for us.

Some of the Madrid papers are telling stories of Madrid players being unhappy with Bale. Could be subtle moves in pushing Bale out (similar to Di Maria and Ozil) in a deal that will see United bring Bale in and DDG going to Madrid.

Bayern, as far as I know, make more per year than we do - and spend less on wages. They get huge sums from their german sponsors and via merchandise.

I wonder how much we would actually have to spend to be in trouble??
