Whats the Benefits of Installing a Diseqc Motor?

I installed a very large Triax 120 cm satellite dish with a Motek SG2100 Diseqc Motor about 3 years ago. The plan then was to get into the whole Sat thing as a hobby but because of one thing or another this has never happened. All I use it for is the BSkyB sat on ASTRA 28E. Because of this I am thinking of taking the whole thing down and replacing it with a smaller mesh dish because with the large dish I get problems when the weather is bad.

Should I keep the Diseqc Motor and what really are the potential benefits to having it? I know a smaller setup is preferable if I am only using ASTRA 28E but I'm not sure what I'd be missing if I took down the motor.

Either way I have to change the size of the dish.

    Thanx for any help.

When you say 3pm games, what about 12, 5.30 and Sunday games? Do you receive these

That's why I ask. If the dish is installed and pointing at the Astra satellite.

Is the benefit of having a motor so that you can then move the sat dish to other foreign satellites along east and west. I assume these satellites have to be pre-programmed in.

You'd probably be better off posting this question in the Foreign satellite forum.
Lots of knowledgeable people over there. This forum is more concerned with 28.2E and the Sky/Freesat/FTA options.

If a large dish is giving you get problems in bad weather it is not aligned properly. A large dish should eliminate such problems but is harder to align initially.

or you could look at the Toroidal Dish solution
I personally got shot of my 1.2 meter dish and motor for a 90cm Toroidal dish
Instant channel zapping now from sat to sat !
Probably should have actually posted in the foreign sat section though !
