Avoiding Wifi connectivity dead spots in a new build

    Hello,

    I'm just about to start a new build (2,700 sq feet), I'm looking for advise on avoiding WiFi dead spots in the building. Has anyone any experience of this ? I've some experience with using wifi extenders but im not overly impressed with them. (this was a few years ago, so the technology has moved on since then)

    Hi, as you say - WiFi extenders are not the way to go. if you set up a wired network with Access Points in the best locations, then you should be sorted.

    It will work out a bit dearer, but would be the best solution for you. Each Access Point would need a CAT5/6/7 cable and probably power. Then pull each CAT cable back to a central point and plug them into a wired router.

    This also has the benefit of seamless transition from one AP to another. It can be difficult to decide where best to locate these points, so I would wire in loads and then connect them up as needed. Steel beams and foil back insulation can play havoc with Wifi signals.

    There are some decent manufactures online that do good, easy to configure solutions for this.
