Virgin 747 About to Crash Land at Gatwick

Apparently a problem with a landing gear; flying around as we speak.
Virgin Atlantic has confirmed there is a landing gear problem with a flight thought to be circling over the coast of Sussex.

The Boeing 747 jumbo is preparing for a "non standard landing" at Gatwick because of a "technical issue with one of the landing gears", said a statement.

It is currently in a holding pattern near Newhaven, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.

Experts have told Sky News the flight may have been dumping fuel and unconfirmed photos appear to show one of the landing gears at an angle.

Flight VS43 took off at 11.44am from Gatwick and was heading to Las Vegas.

Twitter users have reported seeing emergency vehicles heading for the West Sussex airport.

A tweet by the airport said: "In line with standard procedure, emergency services are on standby at the airport purely as a precaution."

Flight data appears to show the aircraft made it to the South West before turning back.

The media are focusing on it that's all. Air emergencies are relatively regular and landing gear malfunctions have happened plenty of times before. This is just a bunch of coincidental events happening in a relatively short timeframe, that's why it looks worse than it is.

Non-standard landing, but Sky News will ring the life out of the story and blow it out of all proportions.

Now the real work starts for Sky..... find the most hysterical passenger who will give the most exaggerated version of what happened and ignore the couple of hundred more rational ones.

Coming up..........Could this flight of terror happen to you or your loved ones ?

If it was Ryanair, they'd have an "emergency landing" surcharge.

Happened on this very route only a couple of months ago, albeit a BA plane. Don't think it was even reported on the news much.

True, they just won't admit it. They came into the thread searching for drama, and yet project onto Sky News their own fantasies.
