I didn't say it wasn't but the fact is you get far more chances to score in Holland. Lots of players like Kuyt for example scored goals for fun in the Dutch league but couldn't do the same in better leagues. Looking at the number of goals he scored is quite simplistic. Even though he scored all those goals his chance conversion was pretty bad at Ajax. Before he became prolific for Liverpool a huge number of stats websites did article on how he had never been a clinical finisher in his career despite the number of goal he scored in Holland.

It's true that his chance conversion wasn't actually amazing - which is incredible in and of itself. The other guys you mention, like Kuyt, or the likes of Afonso Alves finished their chances. It's almost a better indication of how much more dominant Suarez was than them by seeing the sheer number of chances he got himself - his chance conversion wasn't great and yet he still had an incredible goals to games ratio.

Suarez with Ajax simply dominated games single handedly, he was completely unbelieveable - physically and technically just on a completely different level to everyone else on the pitch.

I'm not arguing with any of that. The post I originally replied to was saying his level of finishing dropped from his time at Ajax. It remained though at a similar level, he just didn't get as many chances in the premier league. It was only when his chance conversion rate improved and he became clinical in front of goal for the first time in his career over a long period that he scored similar amounts of goals to his days with Ajax. At that point he was a far superior player though to his Dutch days even if only due to now adding being clinical with his chances to his repertoire.

suarez scored 81 goals in 110 league games in holland, kuyt scored 122 goals in 261 games in holland. rafa anyway played kuyt as a right winger not a striker so its an apples and oranges comparison

suarez has 43 in 82 games for uruguay while cavani has 24 in 69 playing for the same team over the exact same time period

    Fair point.

On the topic of another goalscorer, any thoughts on this Saido Mane story - that we were in for him until our mathematician chap Ian Graham decided the numbers didn't add up. This is a Duncan Castles story though, so dollop of salt required.

Has a lot of attributes that would have suited us down to the ground though, and is scoring goals now.

    defensive coach.

We've gotten away with it so far though, and the more time he's on the pitch the better - so long as its Sakho covering him at LCB instead of Lovren.

I think that shows how good Sakho has been, he's been defending the left side almost entirely by himself in the last few games, would like to see Moreno play at LWB and shift Markovic further up he really is a liability defending.

Moreno at LWB, Markovic in goal, no harm done.

We play with 11 men, other teams play with 10 men and a goalkeeper.

With all the draws today we have a great chance to make up some ground tomorrow...hopefully Brendan will get the lads in the right frame of mind.

Back to 4-4-2 presumably. Would be good to see Can play the 90

    I'll actually post the starting 11 shall I? ;)
Mignolet – Emre Can, Škrtel, Sakho – Manquillo, Henderson, Lucas, Moreno – Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling.

That set up or rather the players chosen the play the system looks rather better like that.

Quality team. Would expect 2 goal victory.

Could be 3 at the back wit emre rcb and manquillo/moreno as wing backs. Hopefully its correct in any case whatever the formation.

That team looks as solid as we have defensively, but I'm still not convinced with Lallana, Couthino and Sterling as a front three.

That team can switch systems quiet easy with those players. 3-4-3 to 4-3-3 to 4-4-2

Lallana has been really poor in this system. Goes missing far too often.

    Which system?

    Which system?

3-4-2-1 or the one with the WB's

One of the great joys of my football supporting life right now is that the Ev are struggling worse than us. Hopefully their form continues for the rest of the season.

According to that you'll have to keep spouting bullsh1t as that looks to be a non article :)

Totally senseless bringing him to Anfield in Jan for €6 million.
