Do you use Set Wedges or Specialist Wedges??

    Do you use the same Sand Wedge, Gap Wedge etc as your Set or do you use more specialist wedges like a Cleveland/Vokey etc.

    What are the pros and cons of each. I currently use the same as the Set but have been thinking of changing recently.

    I use Cleveland 588 Reg wedges. Easier to replace and source. prefer the look and feel aswell

    I use Mizuno JPX wedges, had vokeys for years and then I realised they were only costing me shots. Like with all clubs, forgiveness makes a huge difference unless your in the low single figures.

    Not hitting the sweet spot consistently enough.
    I think there is just more forgiveness from the JPX line. Unless I'm practicing enough, I'll take all the help I can get.

    I have a question similar to this so rather than setting up a new thread i posted it here instead.

    I have the set gap and sand wedge. I was thinking on getting the ping glide wedges, does anyone find the specialist wedges harder to control. Say someone using a game improvement set and then trying to use say vokey wedges.

    Think you need to look at what shots you will be playing with them.

    Have vokeys 52/56/60 myself. I never hit full shots with the 56/60. My 52 would be my go to from 50-100. Feel comfortable with it for 3/4 and 1/2 shots. Alternatively use a 8 iron for lower flighted more run shots.

    Round the green is the bigger difference. Would find vokeys a lot more truer in feel and responsive. Normal clubs are Titleist CB's and I find there is a bit more of a spring/bounce off the on short chips

    The transition would be more seamless going from Titleist CB's to a vokey gap wedge. The worry i have would be going from say a big iron like a ping G30 to a vokey or a similar player gap wedge. As you say the 56/60 lofts aren't as big as issue as they are rarely used for full shots.

    Have a gap wedge that came with the set of muzinos. Think it's great as it has the same shaft as my other clubs.
    It's a 50 so carry 2 ping wedges found them the most forgiving of all the wedges I have tried.

    Used to have 54 and 58 but found 52 56 fits my gaping better
    50 118
    52 105
    56 90.

    Found the 54 was less than a 100
