Have not run since last Monday. My niggles finally caught up with me. Went to see Ecoli on Monday for some maintenance on tight glutes etc. I ran home without a bother but my left leg got progressively worse as the evening wore on. We were heading to Cork for a few days on Tuesday. I could barely walk that morning and had a bad pain run from side of left hip down to my knee. It was difficult to pinpoint the exact source, but did not feel muscular. This pain had been starting to fester for a few days.

I managed to get an appointment with a well regarded sports therapist on Tuesday afternoon in Midleton. He worked on me for an hour and a half and attempted to realign my left leg. He said that I was putting too much pressure on the outside of my leg and that we need to realign and activate the muscles on the inside of the leg.

I seen him on Wednesday for another hour and a half. He could not believe how tight my ITB, TFL, Hamstring, Hip flexors etc were. It was very very painful.

To be honest I was no better Thursday morning. Rather than enjoying running, I was cursing it. I was unable to walk and felt that I was not giving Mrs PB enough help with little PB.

I took some pain killers and by Thursday evening I was definitely feeling some improvement (probably feeling benefit of work I received on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday aswell). Still had some pain on Friday and a noticeable limp.

I am only back walking pain free today. I'm going to try and do some easy running in the next few days but will forget about sessions etc.

Thus, I will be taking an extended break from this log. Hopefully my injury is not too serious and I will be back doing some decent mileage again.

    All the best.
    PB

Much better, Ecoli reassured me that my leg was not going to fall off:). I've just been tipping away, no races planned.

I'm back doing some consistent training the past few weeks. Have been trying to do two sessions a week with the aim of getting faster. Going to Ecoli about once a month. Use it as an opportunity to pick his brains about sessions etc. I could write all I know about running on the back of a postage stamp so it's great to chat to someone like him.

Definitely feel the sessions are working.

    Today, 2m w/u + 10k tempo@ 5.59 m/m + 2m c/d.

Saturday - 2 hour LSR 14.78 miles @ 8.08 m/m. Going to cap my LSRs at 2 hours for the time being. They will give me enough endurance for the distances I intend to race.

Sunday - 45 minute recovery run. Felt some discomfort around my ankle/calf region. Looks like my peroneal tendon was somewhat inflamed. Plenty of ice and foam rolling followed.

    Monday - Rest.

Tuesday - 7.37 miles @ 7.33 m/m. Still felt some discomfort from my peroneal tendon so just an easy run.

Wednesday - 10 miles @ 6.33 m/m. First three miles were steady as I wanted to see how leg felt. No problem so kicked on for final 7 miles. Great day for a run.

No problem today. Spent the guts of two days icing and foam rolling. Seemed to do the trick. Had a similar niggle a few months backs and had to go to physio.

Hope you are on the mend.

    Today 16.32 miles @6.54m/m.
Went steady for first seven. Don't know how accurate the Garmin was today as splits for final 9 are much quicker than what they felt like.

Hey PB, first time poster here, followed your DCM progress last year.

What race distances do you have in mind this year, any goal races in mind? Will you target another marathon in the autumn?
