Yeah, I'm currently on a 50 mile commute every day in rush hour on the M50 and averaging about 10 mph, and it's murder on my bad knee clutching in and out of first and second. The fuel costs as well as horrific, and the alfa lovely and all as it is, is not practical for me tbh. I'm about to change jobs and will be doing up to 800 miles a week, so time to get sensible :)

Love the alfa, it's a seriously lovely car, but just not practical for me :(

    See my pm!
Everything is going to sound quiet after that engine! :pac:

Ah right what model accord were you looking at the older type or newer 04 type on. I have an uncle with the newer model in 2.0 petrol and it's served him very well. I know a few people who have had the 2.2 diesel in them and they have been very reliable. I know it will never have the driving feel as an Alfa but if your doing high miles there is a hell of a lot to be said for having a yoke that just goes and doesn't cause trouble as well as being comfortable and a good long cruiser. Although I know newer alfas are fairly reliable these days.

Scratchy is now sporting a pair of Pirelli Pzeros as the front tyres bite the dust again due to being completely smooth on the inside:o

I've never put on part worns before so we'll see how I get on.

249k at the moment, watch this space.

Ok, no more part worns for me, those pirellis lasted 3k km!

    2 new goodyears fitted yesterday.

That's the 3rd set of new tires I've put on my car this year:rolleyes:

Why would you buy a petrol car to do 800km a week?

Iirc you seem to do high annual mileage I'd say you'd be sick of changing tyres with part worns. What would there be typically on part worns thread wise 5mm. My 15 inch may look sh!t compared to a nice set of 17s but the major benefit is seriously cheap tyres and they're almost impossible to kerb.

Infairness them 2.0 petrol accords do late 30s mpg which is good for a petrol I suppose.

That's the first set of part worns I've ever bought (I was skint at the time.)
That's 3 new sets of tyres I've put on the front of my car this year, not counting the part worns:eek:

That would be about once in twelve weeks I'd be doing that about once a month with mileagre

Ah ok got you now I thought you'd bought a few sets. It's your first and last set by the sounds of it. 3 sets of tyres in a year you must be on the road day and night clocking up huge km as a set of bridgestones or Goodyear normally give a decent amount of mileage before needing to be changed.

Alfa 159s wear front tyres really, really quickly. It rides on the inside edges.

Are you sure there's nothing wrong with the 159 :pac:

I bought mine with part worn P-Zeroes on it and I've done 2,500 miles since buying it and the thread is still very, very good on them, I don't hang around either :D

Agreed. Mine is going to the main dealers in Monday to have the stereo sorted. Alfa FTW.

Went for a spin out to Tara today, via Trim, then a cruise down the M3 to bring it home.

Car was happy. Got a good booting up the Navan road, for a start.

Just had a very wired amazon experience. We ordered several different thing got everything delivered bar one order which had a few items in it some important Christmas present. Now this was 2 weeks ago it was ordered. And stuff that was ordered after it arrived. So I figured this parcel would difinitelty come tomorrow. Just got an email of amazon to say they had sucessfully completed my return of said order sure in didn't get it to return it. I should state it was definitely dispatched. So to me it looks like an post took upon themselves to randomly return everything which we needed for Christmas :(

Also took a nice drive to portloaise today 12 degree c so mild.

Anything you have on order now from overseas won't be delivered until after the 26th. Even then things will be slow to trickle in. It's a good job micks garage is only around the corner from me.

I know there is no point in reordering the stuff we will have to try and get the nearest thing locally still a pain that someone returned it. Addresses were right too I checked and we got no notice to say it had been tyres to be delivered.

I'm considering whether it's worth washing my car or not it's in a terrible state and I wouldn't mind cleaning it and giving it a quick polish with some autoglym srp and egp but I can't help but think I'm completly wasting my time with the way the roads are. I'm going to clean inside regardless hasn't been cleaned for about 2 months and I hate dirty interiors.

You are, to be honest with you I wouldnt bother me backside doing it, my car is a total state and i give absolutely 0 fcuks about it, although I do need to look at a few things mechanically on it tomorrow hopefully

I'm strongly considering that just cleaning the inside out. Sure the layer of dirt on it will protect the paint work anyway :pac: I suppose I can't really classify it as properly dirty yet though as you car still read the rear number plate :D

The M7? I'd never race on an empty motorway! That would be very irresponsible :pac:
