In my hungover state this morning, I am pondering important sociological changes witnessed in our times due to advances in technology...
has the selfie become the 'prize' of choice should a fan meet their hero?

If you happened to bump into your idol singer / sports star / actor etc... would you request a selfie with them or autograph or both?

I fear the autograph may become a thing of the past...

Holding other people up as idols is nonsense anyway.

Could probably manage it with Warwick Davis, but yes, it would be difficult with most of them.

In situations that the person has died, I see the selfie as the only alternative.

You need the selfie to verify the autograph, worth more on Ebay.

Worth more to who on ebay?

If you take a selfie with say mila kunis and you put it on ebay. Isn't just as good as downloading a picture of her from the internet

It wouldn't be because Mila Kunis is in it they'd be buying it. They can get a picture of her anywhere as you say. Pictures of me however, are rarer :)

What was the big obsession with autographs anyway?

Could be forged by anyone, at least with photos it's genuine most of the time.

No. While there are many individuals across the broader spectrum of human achievement that I have tremendous respect & admiration for. I would never feel the need to request an autograph from anyone.

Yeah, you could be rarer but still does not worth a whole pile to me on ebay :P

My point is that it is only worth value to you. Which is why i'd rather one that she is in a bikini (alone) than paying for one with her and bjork outside some building :D

I've never seen the fascination in getting pictures with famous people, chances are it'll be a really bad photo and they'll look like they don't want to be in it. Saying that though if I ever saw Bill Murray I'd be quite tempted...
