com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly

    Hi All,

I need to use an old HTC Desire C, hasn't been used properly in a year. The memory is nearly full so it's stopping me carrying out certain processes. I've deleted all the images and message to try and save space. Ideally I'd like to restore factory settings and wipe the whole thing.

Unfortunately, when I try and access the settings section from any path, the error "com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to send an error report to HTC?"

When I try and access the manage tasks section the same error occurs. I'm going around in circles... anyone know if there's another way I can wipe the phone?

Got it unlocked last night in the Chinese shop by Paul Street, Cork. Hope that didn't mess it up or anything!

If you are not concerned about the contents, I suggest you do a factory reset (wipe data and cache) via the bootloader menu. How to below.

From the list, choose Clear Store / Factory Reset and let it complete, then it will reboot (which will take longer this time). If those options are not available to you, choose Recovery (Step 2, Volume Up with Power instead) and Wipe Data / Cache from there. Again, let it reboot. The HTC Guide is linked below too:
