    Provide way more information would be my first advice e.g. your investment goals, length of investment term, what return you expect/want, tolerance to risk, any other current investments, your age, do you own a house, do you have a pension etc.

    Based on you providing zero information whatsoever, I'd suggest that investing is not for you and you should stick the 40K in a savings account and get guaranteed interest of 2% gross.
