Using Sky+ box after subscription expires

    Hi there,

I just moved into a house with a working Sky satellite dish with quad LNB. The previous owner graciously left behind his Sky+ HD boxes, and it's working fine - i.e. I can view all the channels, with very good picture quality.

I presume he has cancelled his Sky subscription and we're in the 1-month notice period, which will expire soon. I'm wondering what to do after that.

I know I'll be able to re-use the dish if I buy a set-top box to access the Freesat channels (plus Saorview if I put up an aerial), but will I be able to use the Sky+ box instead of buying a new box?

    Thanks!

Will give that a whirl and will delete this thread if it works out.

Better option would be to buy a ftv card which u can put in the hd box to give u the bbc and itv etc on the guide permanently. Can be picked up quite cheaply over on adverts.ie

This will also give u a few extra channels as well such as
sony tv, sony movies and motors tv.
