Hello, has anyone got any experience if buying golf clubs in Florida, particularly Orlando... I am interested to see if there is decent savings to be made. I am thinking of getting custom fitted in Ireland or Florida and ordering the set of irons/woods in Orlando if it's worthwhile. Would appreciate any input.

    Thanks

Been there many times, no savings on clubs, good selection of used clubs on line but nothing in the shops that I ever found, and boy did I look.
Dollar is brutal at the minute too

Same here, I spend a lot of time there. The only real place to get a bargain on clubs is with a club pro the stores are pretty much the same as here. And as Slave said the exchange rate now is as bad as its been in a while.

In saying that I have never really looked at the online stuff, maybe you could find something and have it delivered to the hotel/villa

Thanks thats good to know. Doesnt seem to be any saving so by the sounds of it... Would be difficult so id imagine to buy second hand, especially if I am looking to get a set custom made.

I got my irons in the states this year and had to pay customs on them even though they were secondhand.

I researched this before going to the States myself and have to say that the savings on clubs was not worth the effort. When you factor in the recent changes in US exchange rates I think that little savings will have decreased even further.

Golf ball prices do not vary much. Pro v1s and the other top range balls are a few dollars cheaper, say $45 dollar for a dozen instead of €45 but again that value has been eradicated too.

However, there is value to be gained in gear, such as tops, shoes, etc. Aside from golf stores, you can get good sales in Sports Authority stores, etc. Good value on range finders, I thought myself, in both range and price.
