I never heard of them sending a spare plane to Spain to bring stranded holidaymakers home.

Having a standby aircraft doesn't mean it is always available. With almost (over now?) 300 aircraft all over Europe there is a good chance that they have to sub in aircraft multiple times per day.

And as for those 'stories'....well they don't happen that often.

I have to agree that I can see how it could be interpreted as more 'businessy' looking than old, but I too prefer the old one.

Not really an aviation related incident but due to a hostage situation in Sydney airspace over the city is closed.

How do hostages and airplanes relate? Why would airspace be closed to a 'hostage' situations? Is there birds or some other flying object being held hostage?

Ill go ahead and answer my own question. The reason sydney airspace is closed? An Isis flag is flying outside the cafe where hostages are being kept.

This has to be a glitch. Or maybe a stratospheric balloon?
There are plenty more of these objects in the area drifting in the same direction at a very high altitude and one that has apparently gone down into the sea east of Gisborne...
