HTC One M7 Rooting question

    Hey everyone, currently my HTC One M7 can't get 4G in 4G areas.

    The problem might be the fact the phone is originally from North America/ Canada not sure which it originated. But the phone needs a update for 4G to work and since I can't update from the original network.

    I was wondering if there is a rom for the HTC one that will help me.
    I've modded my HTC desire in the past so I have no troubles in that regards.

    I just want to know will rooting my phone allow me access to the locked 4G aspect

    US versions of the M7 are different because they have carrier specific radio hardware.
    Irish 4G networks work on either 800Mhz or 1800Mhz.

    As far as I know none of the US versions support those frequencies. Rooting won't do anything, nor will flashing any custom roms. You're hardware limited here unfortunately.

    3G operates on different frequency bands, 2100Mhz in particular for us, which the US also uses.

    4G was pretty much brand new when the M7 was released, so they didn't bother with the extra costs associated with making each device globally compatible with a non-widespread technology.

    This changes over time. The M8 for example has much wider 4G frequency compatibility.
