What is the difference between the energy ratings for tyres also the rate for rain. I.e. I have seen a brand that I have never heard of Toyo tyres rated C for energy and C for rain but another brand Dunlop which we all know rated at E & E for same. The price been the same.

How much is to be saved with these ratings for fuel etc.

My advice : Ignore the ratings and use tyre reviews and tests by independent sources.
ADAC do tyre tests every year for Winter/summer and all season tyres.
Tyrereviews.co.uk compile all the test results usually as well.

Quite useless indeed, these ratings are not independently tested and, as a result, budget tire manufacturers just slap "A" and "B" everywhere. Do not listen to tyre shop guys trying to sell you a set of Triangles because they are rated "A"...

High performance tyres tend to have poor fuel ratings as they have more contact with the ground to maintain traction
