I'm trying to work around Dublin today despite all the traffic problems. I wonder how all these people can have a day off to protest, they can't all be living on the dole.

Public transport is busy, but i suspect no increase in revenue.

The numbers look very good early on. It must be the nail in the coffin for this government and hopefully civil war politics. A lot of the naysayers on here who said the crowd would be small have been proven wrong and looking at the tone of their posts are seething:D

We've a lot of guys who've taken a half days leave to attend. But its coming towards the end of our leave period and many don't have leave left to take.

People steaming in from everywhere now.

Looks like a lot of office workers are coming in from their lunch breaks.

Finally, some sort of decent photo of 'the crowd'

Don't know what's more delusional in his post, the "crowd" or "in full swing" part. Honestly think some of these people were born yesterday. It's like they looked up "protest" on Wikipedia and decided they were Superman.

It's going to be hard to spin this as big numbers, there's nearly more guards than protestors - the crowd (well spaced out) cleared O'Connell bridge in 15 minutes.

Holding this on a weekday in December was a terrible idea - most workers have used up their holidays or want to keep what they have.

Might be useful to take names and dock them the day if they are!

find it very ironic that these protestors can afford to take days off work and pay for trains/petrol to get to Dublin, yet cant afford to pay for water and apparently are struggling by.

Couldn't get the day off either as I have used my holidays for the year but supporting the protestors 100% as well. Looking like a good turnout today which is great.

Big numbers. Must be at least 80k anyway. This is the end for IW

Take off the blinkers and take a look at the rest of twitter! You have to face the music some time.

It's less than an hour before it's due to start..... already??

A picture of the turnout?? Four people? Another great image of truth from protestors. Say something vague and then display an image that barely captures whatever they're trying to convey.

Brain fart post of the year award goes to........

Not quite Croke Park on All-Ireland Final Day numbers just yet... Should have asked the Sam Maguire to make an appearance.

What about the workers who set it up? Will they not be paying tax on the extra days wage they get?

will the batons be drawn when the crowd reaches 100k?

    Paid or unpaid? :-)

Lots of people in this thread desperately want this protest to be small for some reason.

Annual leave doesn't pay for petrol/return train fares/bus fares to/from Ballygobackwards to Dublin...

Funny enough, lots of people in this thread desperately want this protest to be big for some reason.

No..... Army MOWAGs mowing down people.

    More efficient.

with it being a work day, and it being very difficult for most people to get time off in December, anything even close to 100k would be a massive success.
