GPO girl' told Canadian police she had been imprisoned in a cage
Samantha Azzopardi (25) facing second deportation in a year

Police in Calgary last night confirmed they had been in touch with gardai and had positively identified the woman as Ms Azzopardi.

The young woman told Calgary police her name was Aurora Hepburn and claimed she had been sexually assaulted while being held at a children's hospital. She also claimed she had been imprisoned in a cage. It is understood she had filed a missing person report about herself to police in Canada using the false identity.

Think she should be sent to a place like this

The Australians seem to be okay with letting others deal with the issue. She'll be deported back there again and no attempt will be made to help her or stop her from leaving again.

She probably has a form of Munchausen syndrome which isn't exclusively limited to feigning medical issues.

People with this kind of psychiatric disorder are usually highly intelligent and adept at manipulating people for their own ends. They usually also know the systems and controls inside-out, so know how to work around them.

Getting into Ireland from most countries is pretty easy. Australia is on the visa exception list, so the only check they will undergo is the glance at the passport in immigration.

Getting a job as an au pair too is likely dead easy, as most families won't know the rules and won't check for visas or permits, especially if the au pair is a native english speaker.

The failure here is in the Australian system and why it continues to allow this woman the freedom to travel when she's clearly in need of care.
