I remember the first one when it came out- it had Paul Young, Phil Collins and UB40.
Back then it was called "Now that's what I call..." and changed to "Now" series over time.

    I see "Now 89" is available (now):o
    :p

I can understand back in the day purchasing such a combo album but today?

Anyway, what's your favourite Now series album?

    You're correct. On both fronts:pac:

Except. It stopped being called "Now that's why I call...." and morphed into the "Now" series at some stage

I remember the early ones in our house in the 1980s. Think the first one came out in 1983. They would have about 6 songs on each side of 2 tapes. I used to love the inner sleeves. Loved the cover of now 2 and 3 - an image of a pig and a serious looking nik kershaw stand out in my mind with those covers. I was a young sprog at the time.

1984 - probably the best year for music. I was recently listening on youtube to the uk top 20 from each year going back. I think 90% of the tunes from 84 were epic.

You ever notice how music has stagnated in the last twenty years, you had rock n roll and glam and punk and electro rap, now they just rehash the same stuff we had and think they're the bees knees. Heard a couple of young wans earlier listening to Urban Cookie Collective like it was the opening night of Beethoven's 7th.

The Smiths were in their prime, as was Eurythmics- also Van Halen Jump, Prince When Doves Cry, Springsteen Dancing in the Dark etc

I almost have the complete collection. 1-8 weren't released on double CD. I have 9-89 with only one or two missing, which I'll get soon.

1-8 I have on vinyl! I will complete it!

They should re-release the old ones as "Then: That's What I call Nostalgia".

I'm not sure which Now this was from but I must have liked it as it's left a memory. I got a tape recorder of Santa and decided to recorded myself singing this song only to have my Mam & Dad play it back to their party of drunk friends :o
