We had to get the bearing changed on a 05 fiesta, now the abs light wont go off garage said the bearing damaged the sensor and we need a new one, does this sound plausible?

Yes, it happened to me when getting a bearing done. Mechanic broke it so he bought a new one and fitted it before returning the car.

If the light wasn't on before you brought it in to the Garage then the Bearing didn't break the sensor, the mechanic did.
They are usually a bit tricky to get out as they can be very tight....often much easier to follow the wire back a few feet to the nearest connector and disconnect it there.

I'd say the mechanic broke the sensor pressing the bearing out and the garage dosent want to absorb the cost.

That's my line of thinking as well, but I could just be a paranoid oul' bollox.
    Thanks for the replies
