One thing that my car has always been missing is the centre armrest. Would love a fully adjustable oe armrest but at around 200 quid it's abit strong. So I was thinking of compromising and getting something like below anyone have any experience with them I don't know of they will be any good although this one is made to go into the cup holder. I don't know if it will look a bit stupid though decision :pac: anyone have any good places to get decent armrests or advice.

    armrest

Wouldn't spend €50 on that, just get one from a breakers bp.

I got a similar one for my Alfa 147 a few years back, it was fine. You have to drill into the plastic beside the rear cigarette lighter, not sure if that would bother you.

I wonder how easy that woud be in a Golf van

One of the lads car was robbed last night. His bangernomics Mazda 323. Cost him all of €350 to get him in and out to his new job and he only had it a month. Will be on the hunt for a replacement that can't be opened and started with a screwdriver soon. I was meant to fit a kill switch on it when he had the time. Too late now

Remember I was telling ye about my friends Mazda 323 getting robbed? Well, I came across this video

I'm 99.9% sure thats it. SCUMBAGS!!!!

100% certain thats it. Was on to him there. Theres a part in the video where one of the little shíts says theres no handbrake in the mazda. My friend was saying that his handbrake was fecked and he was due to get it sorted.

    SCUM OF THE EARTH!

Mostly household burglaries I'd say. Happens a lot in rural parts of Limerick. Theres a 2014 fiesta there too

I'm not 100% what you mean but in the golf there's just a big cup holder and I'd imagine it would fit no problem as the cigarette lighter is in front of the gear stick under the radio so that wouldn't be effected.

I get what people are saying that it is a bit sh!t looking but I think getting one in a scrap yard is easier said than done as I'd say 70% of mk5 golfs were poverty spec that didn't have the centre armrest anyway then also the biggest problem I've had with scrap yards is if you turn around and say you want the centre armrest they'll nearly hit it with a hammer to get it out and them hand it to you with every clip and delicate piece broken on it.

So anyone have any recommendations for decent scrap yards that deliver does that place up the north do this kind of stuff.

Thats shocking. I think in the new year I'll have a tracker fitted to both cars here for peace of mind. They'll be a lot easier for thieves to spot once in the new house as its a lot less rural then where I am now.

With the two cars that you'll have you'd be mad not to.

    Rear cigarette lighter

Ah ok got you now. I'd have no need to wire that up anyway same with the vents it would be pointless getting them connected up. The golfs have a cigarette lights in the very back anyway (boot section). I'll have a look around and see but as I said above trying to get a decent intacted one out of a scrappy won't be easy. You don't tend to even see that many mk5s in a scrap yard although maybe now there is as there getting on in age.

Just looked at the posts again your correct it would be difficult enough to drill alright as there is abit of a partition (about a foot or so in height) behind the seats as you probably know. Vw couldn't have just made it easy and fit it in the factory like the other comfortlines :pac: dads mk7 has a centre armrest although mine has a few things his doesn't have.

I've just had a ****ty call from my O/H who got a bad scare when her brakes failed. We just had new pads on 2 weeks ago to help fix spongy brakes. She had complained a few times they didn't feel right so we sent it to be checked. No idea whats gone wrong, she just says there is a hissing noise from the back of the car when the brakes pedal is pressed.

Just back from a trip to wicklow.
Drove down in my fiesta, arrived back on an AA truck.
The fiesta burst a radiator hose.

Brought back a nice new bangernomics special.

Changing pads or disks would do nothing to sort spongey brakes. Its caused by air in the lines getting in through a bad seal or connection somewhere.

That's alarming to read, presuming it was a mechanic who suggested changing the pads? As mentioned spongey brakes are not a symptom of worn pads, calipers have a function.

New mechanic and never go back to the Muppet who checked it out for you.

Got my new credit card style licence today. Now it doesn't look like something I made up at home :pac:

Also bought a new set of discs for the car. Tax due soon and insurance later this month. It's going to be an expensive month :(

The new licences are great, the best thing is not getting that look of "what's this.." when you hand it over at a car rental desk abroad. :D

Funny you should mention that I'm only just after walking out of the ndls place after applying for mine. It was change of address so free at least. Were you waiting long for yours to come ?
