need a new tv series, what are you all watching?

I've watched three seasons of Grimm - nearly 70 episodes. Not as high-brow or mainstream as a lot of the new tv series that people usually talk about, but great fun, nonetheless. The first two seasons are currently on Netflix. 4th season is on TV next spring.
Currently halfway through season 1 of The Leftovers. It's decent.

I watched all three Godfather films in one day when I was 15.

I also watched the whole of The Wire in less than a month.

    Good times.

It's about time travel, dude builds a time machine out of a microwave, but that's all I'll say. Go into knowing as little as possible, and seriously beware of spoilers, but it's honestly one of the best things ever.

Finished that recently in about 3 or 4 days. So good.

Been flying through loads of anime recently on Netflix. Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Deathnote, Psycho-Pass. All brilliant.

I watched all Star War films (The original ones) all together. When I discovered True Blood, I watched the whole first four seasons with a few hours sleep in between. i would say I have an addiction to series. Watched Californication I would say the whole six seasons in three days. The watched the final series in one day. ( Basically working and college in between)

I watched a series of 24 in about 30 hours.

PS: The series only lasts for about 17 hours not 24 ;)

I binge watched Breaking Bad, then moved onto Boardwalk Empire. I was watching Coronation Street one day in the midst of it and someone was annoying someone else and I found myself thinking "she should just kill them" in all seriousness. Had to pull back from the violent shows after that. I was becoming a bit mental!

I binge on movies at the Jameson film fest every year. Sometimes seeing 4 or 5 in a day.

Also a few years back I had an absolutely awful flu and I watched the first four seasons of The Wire while bedridden. Good times! :pac:

A few years ago, I got all of the seasons of The Sopranos that had been released up to that point on DVD for Christmas. I think it was 4 seasons at the time. I binged on the whole lot from about 10pm on Christmas Day until about the 28th or so. Stopping only briefly for food, toilet breaks and naps.

Did a Star Wars marathon before; did it in the alternative viewing method, too. The idea is called the "Machete Order". Basically, watch the films in the following order: IV, V, I, II, III, VI. This alternative order inserts the prequel trilogy into the middle, allowing the series to end on the sensible ending point (the destruction of the Empire) while still beginning with Luke's journey.

Effectively, this order keeps the story Luke's tale. Just when Luke is left with the burning question "how did my father become Darth Vader?" we take an extended flashback to explain exactly how. Once we understand how his father turned to the dark side, we go back to the main storyline and see how Luke is able to rescue him from it and salvage the good in him.

The prequel backstory comes at the perfect time, because Empire Strikes Back ends on a huge cliffhanger. Han is in carbonite, Vader is Luke's father, and the Empire has hit the rebellion hard. Delaying the resolution of this cliffhanger makes it all the more satisfying when Return of the Jedi is watched.

Narratively, it's just like a movie that starts with a big opening, then fades to "2 years earlier" for most of the movie, until it catches up with the present time and concludes.

It's class and it works well, too.

I also intend doing a "Mythology Marathon" with a friend of mine some day, with The X-Files. Basically, cutting out all the "Monsters-Of-The-Week" episodes and only watching the "Myth-Arc" episodes all together. Those episodes are the ones that really centre on the alien/government-conspiracy episodes that form the basis for the entire series. T'will be epic. :D

Being thinking about buying all the Star Wars movies on DVD as I've never had a chance to watch them all properly but you've definitely sold me on the idea and the order to watch them in

Watched The Mentalist seasons 1-5 in about 3/4 weeks, gave up watching it on TV as RTE kept moving it around. Waiting for Amazon to delivery season 6 at the moment. Of course I went and ruined it for myself by googling Red John and now I know who he is but still looking forward to them catching him.
