Seems the Merc is suffering the black death... Challenge accepted! ;)

Apart from that small inconvenience, the Navan residents had to put up with me blaring festive music (exhibit a and b) at full tilt from my cobbled BMW radio :D

Now with slight modification to the exhaust... Holy crap it sounds so good heading up the hill at full chat!

A bit of a long shot here but I suppose nobody around Nenagh has ramps I could borrow? I want to do a bit of work on the Citroen and would feel more secure with ramps rather than axle stands.

Ok so with the sim rig the one thing that was letting it down was the very arcadey steering wheel...

    329926.jpg

So I ordered a new deep dish wheel and picked up a converter on adverts so it'd fit. The results are amazing and it feels very real running through your fingers self centering :)

    329927.jpg

Ye may all get a go! :D

(Just realised how bad the second pic is )

It's not really one thing, more a built thing with a number of bits :)

The one I have is made of the following now..

Custom frame with proper mounting points.

Full 900 degree Logitech G25 Steering, pedals, clutch etc.

    Sparco Evo 2 seat.

    340mm 90mm deep steering wheel.

    About €400 all in!

Edit: SImon are you ever in Laois? :)

I have a good laptop that runs most sims well but the brother's laptop is a water cooled Alienware job.
It runs project cars no problem as high as you can currently set it!

Project Cars is definitely something I plan on running on the new machine, 4GB GTX 970 going into it, should be able to handle 4K too :)

I see, I wouldn't have the slightest clue of where to start there, but it looks very interesting. Sadly I don't often find myself in Laois, for the remainder of the year I'm working in Clare and I usually can't wait to get back up to Dublin after the week.

Are you connecting your laptop up to larger monitor?
I have a Xbox 360 force feedback steering wheel. So decided to connect it up to desktop, steering works but the force feedback does not. Microsoft never bothered to release the drivers for it, and it has been discontinued for years. I was hoping somebody with computer knowlege would have some how used the xbox driver and change some code around and get it to work on pc but no such luck. So I am thinking about getting another xbox 360 to use the steering wheel with. I know there is not really sim games for xbox but Forza is pretty good.

It has been such a long time since I used the steering wheel I was playing Need for Speed most wanted on pc and kept crashing. I would see I am going to crash turn wheel and realize I am going too far turn opposite way and same thing. It's been so long since I used a steering wheel on a gaming device and I am wondering are they hard to use or is it just it is not meant for the PC. Once I get mu xbox I will test it out.

Yeah wotz i run a hdmi lead to a 42" screen.
My logitech controller works on pc and ps systems. I know i can buy a decoder to work with the xbox, it's possible you can do the same?

I used to think Forza was good but until you try project cars or similar with a 900 degree wheel you've felt nothing :)
The way the more expensive force feedback works is that there's dampers in the wheel too, so if it didn't have power steering you get that weight, if you run high on an apex and get thrown off it the steering gets pulled from your hands. It's amazing :)

Just as I had suspected, at least one of the injectors isn't working properly.
Mechanic couldn't tell for sure but he was pretty sure after driving it that that was the problem.
Said he would have to remove all four and test them to know for sure and then he could renovate them.
Did a diagnostics as well and it came back that the inlet manifold valve is stuck open. Fecking great.
