    hi

In the states at the moment and wondering if I bought a contract free phone from say Verizon, would it work okay back home in Ireland. Currently have a Nexus 4 with just a monthly sim only contract with Three.

    Cheers

I'd say it would depend on what phone you had in mind - some phones would (possibly Motorola) and some just would not (regional Samsung variants are pot luck), and some may have non functional 4G or something similar not working (I.e US Nexus 5 Vs EU Nexus 5)

Its down to whatever bands your network uses back home, a quick google of the specs of both your network and the phone should give you an idea if they are supported....

Looking at the Moto droid maxx/turbo, but seems to be a lot of uncertainty on various forums.
