YES always because if they slow down then the trap is doing its job without costing them money.

    That's fair.

They'll slow down for 30 seconds and then take off again. A fine and a few points on a licence would be more of a deterrent, IMO

"try driving a big van at a steady 100kmh "

Is no excuse to be going over.

If you're not able to drive and keep at or below the speed limit, well you should be driving.

They will slow down till they pass the trap. Like you do also. And don't tell lies! ;)

Wouldn't they also do that if they were caught? In both instances they'll likely slow down on that road next time.

    aww, poor poor driver.

it's simple, he don't want to be in a bad mood again, he can drive at the limit, no sympathy.

Exactly, so a fine and points would be a better deterrent.

I'm not lying, I stay below the speed limit. If I do venture over and get caught that's my fault and I take it on the chin and do my best to not let it happen again.

The only reason I haven't got caught with speed vans is because of people flashing me. Thank you all. <3

I always do the same as well.

Well the next time I see a trap I'll tell you so you won't get a fine.

You think a person would react the same to a warning from another driver and a fine and points? I don't agree. as I've said, points and a fine are a much better deterrent, IMO.

so let me get this straight, rather than explain what's "bizarre" about my post, you insult me?...

Or is it a case of "if you're driving above the speed-limit, tough!"?

I actually some bit of flack over in the Motors forum in my thread right here for saying "Surely if someone is speeding above the limit they deserve to be caught?" when I received a 15-car warning about a Speed-Camera Van.

Cannot remember when last I flashed anyone to warn them of a speed-check of any form. I've flashed numerous of accidents; of ES being on a road after an accident that I have just passed and also flashed people who like to flash & wave at me :)

    That's it though,

Tell him/her your friend has the exact same make of car and you thought it was them...

Whether you get caught or not, once you pass the van you'll assume it will be a while before you see another one.

Yes I do. When they start moving the vans off of revenue raising stretches of roads to meet quotas, and onto actual accident black spots and such, then maybe I'll reconsider.

    That was unnecessary.

but if he was, then fine so. But people do use all sorts of excuses to back up their reasons for speeding, if I can't tell it was sarcasm(some smiley faces would've helped), how am I to know he wasn't being serious?

If I'm on the bike and see another biker I always do. Jasus, it's just wrong to not warn them

If I got a fine and points I'd be doing my level best to make sure I don't get anymore

I'm also a biker and the cam fans can't get bikes. No front reg. so keep it at 300kph ;)

Always. Especially in a zone where the speed limit is unfair like 50 on a good road or downhill.
And they're sitting there like snakes in the grass. Scumbags!

Yes Gard, if I see somebody that I know when out driving I flash them, even at junctions and so on.

no, because you'll assume someone else will be there to warn you.

I'd be making sure that wherever I was driving I'd be under the limit, not just at that spot, if I had gotten a fine and points. If a person is just warned, I don't think it has the same effect. Again, a fine and points is a better deterrent IMO, we obviously disagree and that's fine :)
