two men attack rabbis in Jerusalem synagogue and kill four of them............does this further the Palestinian cause?

Hamas have declared the perps as martyrs

not much condemnation from Islamic moderates so far

(apologies if there is already an AH thread on this but I couldn't find one)

Meanwhile the Israeli army go in and arrest family members of the men who carried out the attack.Punish as many as possible. And the bulldozers will probably follow soon.

Ya,that makes a lot of sense.

Meanwhile Hamas praised the attack as "a quality development in the confrontation with the Israeli occupation."

A 68 yr old, a 59 year old, a 55 yr old, and a 43 year old must have put up some resistance.

Not much condemnation last week from Christian moderates when a Mosque was burned down. And nobody seemed outraged enough to start a thread about it. There has been months of extreme provocation by far right religious zealots & Zionists at the Temple Mount, in Jerusalem and the West Bank. And as usual, it's the innocent that suffer. Bibi wants Palestinian stone throwers to face life in prison, meanwhile his war dogs can kill women & children without fear of sanction. And that pretty much sums up this hate filled Statelet and its 21st century version of Apartheid. Sad to see the innocent from any religion die anywhere. But the silence is deafening when Palestinians are murdered and brutalised every week. But once an Israeli dies, we must all get on the bandwagon because their lives are more valuable than the oppressed Palestinian dogs. And thus the outrage must be greater.

What have "Islamic moderates" to do with anything?

    A vicious attack. RIP.

You just puked that up didn't you? You puked it up in an attempt to implicate all Muslims in this attack and divert attention away from the brutal occupation, dispossession, and colonisation, of East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
"The presidency [Abbas] condemns the attack on Jewish worshipers in their place of prayer and condemns the killing of civilians no matter who is doing it," PA president's office says.

    Jerusalem Post.

    Meanwhile Netanyahoo says:
the Israeli prime minister told the U.S. secretary that the strike was a direct result of Abbas' incitement

    haaretz.com

The Israelis pay lip service to the idea of peace with the Palestinians. They Israelis rejected peace long ago in favour of colonising East Jerusalem and the West Bank by dispossessing the Palestinians.

Very disappointed and angry with the PFLP for doing this. Hacking middle aged clerics to death is never warranted and does nothing to further the Palestinian cause. Some of the things that are going on toward he Palestinians in Jerusalem are horrific and I can see how it would motivate desperate and angry acts. However, randomly butchering a few praying clerics will do nothing to challenge that.

Yesterday or the day before a Palestinian bus driver was hanged in his bus. Israeli Police stated it was suicide before the body was even sent to postmortem. Israeli doctor also ruled suicide while a Palestinian doctor pointed out injuries on the body pointing to a possible murder.

Today a Palestinian man was stabbed by 4 Israeli settlers and is in a serious condition in hospital and a 16 yr old boy was shot in the face by another settler. Israel are "looking into" these reports

Also this week a young Palestinian boy and girl have had their eyesight damaged by IDF soldiers firing rubber coated bullets at their faces and a 10 yr old boy was shot in the neck for getting too close to a perimeter fence and a number of houses have been demolished.

None of this has been reported by mainstream media :(

4 Israeli's are killed today, seemingly by cousins of the bus driver who it is reported was lynched and the crime ignored and it is all over mainstream media, reported as "a terrorist attack". Double standards much?

This (and far worse) has been going on for months in that part of the world and no one's been bothered, why kick up a fuss now?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Two of the four stories you mentioned were reported on by the Daily Mail and CNN, and that's just after a very quick copy paste job into Google. Would these not be considered "mainstream" media? In fairness, the atrocities in Palestine have been covered extensively by mainstream news sources, to say otherwise is just silly.

We've been dealing with double standards and a turning a blind eye since the foundation of the State of Israel. Their blatant disregard for Human Rights and the UN would be an embarrassment to any civilised nation. But in a country currently ruled by a Zionist controlled government, it's merely a badge of honour. You also would have thought that war dog Bibi, was sated after the recent blood letting in the Gaza Strip. Netted him a large & unprecedented bounty in innocent Palestinian dead. But oh no, he has been ramping it up ever since, particularly in the West Bank & Jerusalem. More provocative & illegal colony settlements have been given his blessing. Far right religious groups have been allowed to act provocatively and aggressively toward one of Islams holiest sites. Palestinians protested, the stormtroopers were released and more civilians died. Tragically and inevitably, the attacks eventually spill over onto innocent lives and now Jewish worshipers have been horrifically attacked. Meanwhile as always, I've no doubt Bibi will continue to do his best to inflame the situation further, as he pushes us closer towards a Third Intifada.

Don't see much condemnation of the latest Israeli terrorist attack. They are now reviving their old practice of demolishing Palestinian homes in a terror attack of collective punishment. Link. And they claim to be a democracy.

Why did you ask about "Islamic moderates" in your OP?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,749 ✭✭✭✭wes

Terrible attack, and will do nothing for the Palestinian cause.

Rather nasty of the op to have a go at "Islamic Moderates", considering that the OP themselves, don't bother condemning all violence and provocation against Palestinians the last few weeks. I also note *insert atrocity here* that the OP has failed to condemn.....

What about condemnation from American moderates (I know a few do exactly that)? Seeing as there democratically elected government are you know actively funding one sides murderous terrorism, and protecting it from any censure in the UN security council. Its bizarre you have a go at Muslims, but leave out Americans, whose democratically elected government, are actively supporting one sides atrocities.

BTW, should "Jewish Moderates" be expected also be questioned if they don't condemn the dizzying number of atrocities carried out by Israel? We could go all day with this one, about which groups have and have not condemned something to a sufficient degree.

Also, the PFLP are described as a Marxist organisation and they were set up by George Habash, a Christian. Islam has nothing to do with this really.
