Ah. But surely retirement is exactly when you should have time for writing..?

You'd think that all right but in effect my days are filled with all the things I never had time for before. Gardening, walking, fishing, bird watching, home maintenance etc. Doing things at your own pace and for yourself takes up all the day. Sitting reading a book on quantum physics with a coffee right now and then it's out to the garage to varnish the garden furniture. Retirement is far from idle time.

This is my third day off work sick, mentally I don't know how to get through another day with so little to do, and barely being able to move.

I will take on board all suggestions please.

I've watched nearly all the remaining episodes of the programme I'm following,iI've read nearly all of boards, I've looked at all the jobs, I'm reading a book but I don't think I have the concentration to read the rest of it in one go.

    Help

Read the terms and conditions for using iTunes

You took a day off to play it? That's dedication!

Sounds busy. But a nice kind of busy.

Sci fi would really not be my thing, but yes I may give the IT crowd a go. Thanks

And because of the penguin post I am going to look at YouTube videos of hedgehogs, penguins, mice, and other such delights.

I've just started watching Elementary. It's actually better than Sherlock. Kinda wish I had a sick day to finish season one. And if you haven't watched it before, The Good Wife is actually some of the best television out there.

Whatever you do, do not think "It's been years since Episode 1-3 if star wars came out. Maybe they weren't as bad as I remember. Maybe if I watch them I'll see them in a new light I'll actually have some kind of appreciation for them"

    Just don't

I do that whenever I'm bored in work. We just sit there laughing at people face slapping the pavement.

Although there's nothing that beats a russian dashcam compilation.

:D I wouldn't watch star wars (again) if you paid me.

I've to get to the IT crowd first god damn it. The Good Wife, I never really took to.

I have a small - medium book lined up. It's not a story though, so it makes it hard to keep reading.

Yeah it is hilarious to watch people do stupid things. It's more entertaining to watch animals to funny things though. Maybe it's time you switched

I'm being responsible, and bearing in mind that I may have to go to work tomorrow, so trying to keep my sleep cycle somewhat ok. But such a good idea.

    Awh that's so nice.

You find it relaxing to do? My relaxing thing is colouring in. Don't care who knows it. I like to colour in pictures!

Give BSG a try you forget you're watching a sci-fi such is the quality of the writing, characters and the story, themes straight out of the real world the acting, unreal music which would win Oscars if it were in a film series and tension too (start with the 3 hour mini-series pilot) it's a relatively short show too, other 2 (Fringe and It Crowd) are great. People who don't have a fondness for sci-fi tend to love it more, it's all about the characters and their will to survive, think of it as Band of Brothers meets the West Wing just happening to take place in space. A hopeful and depressing show.

I really appreciate you taking the time to write that out, but I am, to put it nicely, opposed to sci fi. I couldn't sit through a programme like that. But thanks.

I haven't even gotten to the IT crowd yet. So much happening on boards. I think I'll throw on an episode now.

It's ok, I'm a raving fanboy I would have fired that off in my sleep typing with one toe :) lol

If you're bored then you're not properly sick OP. You're actually just malingering. I suggest you go on tomorrow and throw yourself into work. The satisfaction of doing your job really well will soon make you feel 100% again.

    Are you serious?

Have you ever had a back spasm?

It's mostly in your head. I suggest you get up and do a few jumping jacks and you'll be right as rain in no time!

Ow. Very very bad - still have nerve damage in the legs :( Here's a series recommendation if you haven't seen it, cos there's one after it too so it'll last you a while and it's very well done. Ever watch "Life on Mars"? It's brilliant. Never saw it when it was actually televised, but started it last year and couldn't stop watching. Next series was called "Ashes to ashes". I won't bother telling you what they're about as it'll give you something to do ;-) Get well soon.

Watch the "Corner". From the same guys as the wire. Only about six episodes, but really compelling stuff.
