I was only thinking the same thing, can't believe this time last year we were doing all the last minute prep for the marathon! Got great wear out of my DCM top this year;) Can't see me having time to train for another any time soon so I'll treasure the memories!!

Good to see you back shortstuff. Congrats on the baba too by the way :)
Maybe you'll be investing in running buggy in a few months, put some decent strength in the legs for DCM 2015 :D

Already done! Can't run with babs until 6months old but I have to say its a great buggy for walking! It's a dream to push so looking forward to running with it. Got an absolute bargain through US amazon & a helpful aunt traveling to NewYork on holidays:)

DCM15... Think I'll focus on getting faster first! I was super fit (for me) last year & it still took ALMOST 5 hours! Time will most certainly be at a premium this time next year & I can't see a baby being too impressed in a buggy for 4hr plus training runs ha:) But never say never;)

    You all set for DCM?

Baby has a bit of a cold so has been unsettled so wasn't sure if I'd get this workout done. Headed over to Mams, decided to give calpol, fed him & fell asleep in my arms. Chanced putting him in car seat & headed down to the treadmill. He woke the second I put him down:( Managed 18mins before he got bored watching me going nowhere before he cried! Mam was back at that stage so she took over babysitting duty while I finished my run so at least I got it done!

    1min warmup
    3.1miles 11.61/mi avg 36min
    3min cool down
    3.4miles total 40min

Ha thanks I did do the easier version of the exercises;) Hopefully it'll help avoid injury down the road. Enjoy the babysitting!

It took two attempts (1st lasted 8mins before baby got other ideas) but got my core workout done! Have a wedding tomorrow so will be a rest day & run Saturday, kinda hoping to make the run outdoors, oh the little pleasures in life;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 852 ✭✭✭shortstuff!

Didn't run yesterday in the end, couldn't even blame being out Friday night with the wedding, we left at 10, party animals or what!!

    25/10/14
Felt bad for not running so did 10mins of core work.

    26/10/14
    3miles @ 12min/mi
Threadmill was set for a hill course for some reason & couldn't figure how to change it so went with it. Have read here before that you should run on a Threadmill with at least 1% incline to simulate road running so it's something I'll incorporate going forward. 10mins into the run was summoned to feed the baba. Easily could have left it at that so quite proud that I finished the run. Back on & the setting was back at zero decline so I manually up'd it 1/2% every minute for 10mins & then back down 1/2% every minute. Sweated more than normal so must be a lot more effective & not as boring as normal. Baby supervised the last 2mins while he looked to be fed again!!

Core workout - did mostly the intermediate level exercises without the weight, felt I was finishing each exercise a lot stronger so think I'll start using a light weight this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 852 ✭✭✭shortstuff!

So I've ran 3miles 3 times so I think I need to have a plan to progress. I had initially planned on running 5km by the end of the year following couch to 5k, but hadn't loss as much fitness as I originally thought:D

My plan is to run 3miles 3times a week and introduce a long slow run which will start at 3.5miles & then increase by .5miles every week bring to 10km/6miles by the end of the year.

Will try mix up the short runs with intervals, hills to try increase overall speed, would like to get under 30mins by year end.

    3.1mile on the threadmill avg 10.23min/mi 32min10

This was done with a 1% incline. Up'ed the pace gradually by .1 every minute for 15mins, then held it at top pace (6.5mile/hr) for 5mins, then alternated jog (4miles/hr) - run (6miles/hr) for .1mile until 3.1 miles complete.

    30/10/14

    3.1mile @ approx 12min/mi

1st run done outside post pregnancy, complete with head torch & hi vis, at least nobody could see my rosey face! I didn't have time to wait for the garmin to pick up location so don't have an exact time, took it handy as I'm a bit tired with this being the 5th day in a row of exercise, not to mention the night feeds;) Felt good to be running outside again!

Tomorrow's a well deserved rest day

Little lads christening, managed a 2mile walk. Not enough to work off all the pastry & cake I ate!

    3/11/14
1st running session with the club. Found this tough, just went at my own pace. It's crazy how much running with a group pushes you along though:)

    3.5miles including fartlek session

Rest day, baby had his 2 month jabs so wasn't in great form & other half was sick so couldn't leave him with a crying baby:(

Weigh in - up 1/2 lb, pretty good considering how disasterous my diet was with Halloween & the christening, back on track now.

    5/11/14
Club circuit training - went really well, stronger than I though I was:)

    Rest day

    8/11/14
4m LSR - not what most on here would consider a long run but have to start back somewhere! Set garmin to 12min/mi pace which I thought would be grand but I was very wrong! Didn't pace it very well, averaged 12:41min/mi so I think I'll repeat this distance next week & hold a steady pace.

    Mile 1 12:20
    Mile 2 12:45
    Mile 3 12:53
    Mile 4 12:44

    9/11/14
    3.1miles @ 11:38min/mi - Hill training with the club
We did drills & then 2 sets of 4 medium distance hill sprints with a pace run in between. I started sprinting but 3/4 the way up the hill I was very slow, tried to just focus on form & to keep going! Proud of myself that I kept going, certainly found it a hell of a lot harder than this time last year!

    Mile 1 11.33
    Mile 2 11.13
    Mile 3 12.01

    Club session 3.6miles @ 11.32min/mi
    15min easy, 8 * 100m strides, 15min easy

Wasn't as many at training with the rain & we were split between those of us who had done hills yesterday & those who hadn't so ended running this mostly solo which was a bit annoying. Like a drowned rat by the time I was finished!

My other half pointed out that I've already done 3 days in a row so I should rest tomorrow, I had penciled in a recovery run, really slow 2miles, any thoughts? Moving my LSR this week to Friday so next I won't have this 4in a row issue.

    2mile recovery run @ 12:48min/mi (4.7 Threadmill setting)
Nice handy run on the Threadmill, wasn't getting soaked for a very slow 2miles, I'd never have warmed up!

Also did Tracy Anderson Arms while baby took a very short nap:)

Weigh in today, down 2.5lbs, now 9st9:D
