Well I took the plunge and went ahead and got the network using the workaround. Couldn't believe how simple it was to set up and believe me I am in no way technically minded at all. I can just about use my iPhone. The best thing was it was totally free. Free month on the network and a free trial of unblock-us. Great quality, little to no buffering and a huge amount of content on there. Anybody still unsure about it should take advantage of the free month.
And they didn't even pay me to write that!

The guides on unblock-us for all the different devices are very straightforward in fairness. Think the only awkward one is a Roku since you have to factory reset it and set it up as a USA device.

Stingey yes. Clueless depends on whether or not these "Attitude" and "ECW" weeks leads to a substantial increase in subs. I suspect no.

The DX Turned The Tide In The Monday Night War Network hasn't bee a rip roaring success so far.

I would argue that not having 1995-2001 Raw's and Nitro's ready to go by launch (and especially by now) was a big mistake. It's not nearly as fun just being able to watch PPV's without putting them in context. I know they probably would've wanted to hold some key stuff back to roll out over time but I would've thought Raw and Nitro would've been a key selling point.

Thing is, it's not that the winners write history but they get to forget it.

Works fine for me with Hola, sometimes you need to hit the fix it button.

I was the opposite Hola works perfectly for me and had nothing but problems with Unblock-Us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,689 ✭✭✭Tombi!

Had issues with unblock-us. Switched to trying Hola and it works perfectly now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,689 ✭✭✭Tombi!

Actually, I'm having issues with clicking on the bar at the bottom (to skip or go back in the video). It still seems to go to certain places regardless of how accurate I am.
Say I'm at 47 minutes in and I want to go to 48 minutes, it'll go back to 46 minutes until I get to a certain point, then it goes to 51 minutes then 55, etc.

It's not me clicking on the circles either. Even if I drag it, it still does it. I'm on a PC BTW and my mouse is fine and so is my internet.

The browser version is terrible, and it's never been updated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,689 ✭✭✭Tombi!

    Oh, that would explain it.

So I'd have to use it on a tablet? I don't use consoles anymore since my tv is my PC monitor now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

Same as yourself, no consoles and TV is the PC monitor, It's not much of a problem just that the search is nonsense, and you can't skip through crap with any accuracy. You'll get used to it.

I heard the Network doesn't work very well on the Google Chrome browser. Don't think I've ever got it working on that but I don't use the website often.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

If Chrome isn't the best browser to use, does anybody know what is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I've never had an issue with Chrome since the Network started.

To be fair, I don't see a problem with this. F4W should know better too, that's very tabloidy, 'trying to stir up controversy where there is none' of them. I can understand why fans are frustrated with WWE holding back content...but that makes total sense for them to do from a business standpoint - that archival content and how they use it is how they sell the Network long-term.

When people decide whether or not to subscribe, it's one decision regardless of how much or little content there is on there. By withholding content and releasing it in increments, they're increasing the amount of decisions that people are forced to make. If they blew their load by releasing it all in one go, they'd be dooming the Network to failure. The same amount of people would've made the same decision and WWE would have no trump cards to change their mind down the line, aside from new PPVs (which they could get into the habit of streaming) or new content (which is expensive to make). So they're dead right to sit back and come up with ideas from week-to-week about what to do next. That's also better for us as consumers: Vince tends to get bored of projects once they're fully-formed. If they rightly see the Network as a platform rather than an incomplete archive, that'll ensure they constantly maintain it.

Any good business would do the same. That's why F4W should know better. Fans, myself included, are being greedy by wishing there was more content (think about it - you can watch ANY pay-per view from the past that you like, right now, with a subscription...that's class). But that's an acceptable complaint because it's an inadvertent compliment that WWE can use to their advantage down the line.

You can't watch the TV that developed the angles leading to those shows.

I'm glad they're incorporating some archival stuff with ECW week. These monday night wars episodes (and other specials) are a great opportunity to release related vault RAW, Smackdown and Nitros. So after watching the docu on Mankind, put the RAW & Nitro up the night he won the belt, as well as important RAWs from Foley's career. A more cohesive package. Sell people on the Vault section. So people don't stop at watching an hour, they end up watching 5-10 hours!

In fairness I read the article (last night half asleep) and it sounded like it was contradicting itself. Says something like Netflix gets more business when it uploads a new series of something or wins the rights to upload a new show. WWE has all this content that its not releasing... Why not. The answer is written on the page, why give everything you have then have nothing to build hype with. It's not rocket science it's business 101

You need the full run of the old episodes. I really wanted to start watching old World Class. but there's breaks of 3 or 4 weeks after most episodes, so it's pointless. Netflix would be shut down if it had that kind of consistancy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,067 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

The web interface is bloody awful (You have to click a button 5 times just to find Wrestlemania)

And only a couple of episodes of raw '96-'99? Terrible

When I finish watching an episode of raw/nitro, it should start the next one (like netflix) or start the ppv if that was next.

The episodes of nitro aren't even dated.

Will not be paying for this.

Why is that considered an absolute right, though? When we paid double the monthly subscription to watch one of those shows on DVD, we didn't see it as a flaw that they didn't have the four Raw episodes leading up to it as an extra. And they never flat out said, "You'll have the entire archive from day one," so we can't call them liars either.

Like I said, once you examine the criticisms behind it and their validity, it kinda underpins how entitled we now feel when really we've no right to be and are getting a tremendous deal for a tenner a month (again, feel free to pay double that and watch on Box Office while NOT getting all of the other shows at your fingertips). It's like a joke I heard before (can't remember by who) about us having the entire collection of human knowledge on a device that we can fit in our pocket...but if we run out of signal for a few minutes, we yell and scream like our world has ended.

If I had 9.99 for every time someone answered criticism of the network with "but it's a great deal for what you get" then I would have many lifetime's worth of subscriptions.
