I got flashbacks to last season with that performance. Loads of posession but nothing happening. Could easily have been caught on the break.

I'm alright with that. I'd take a month long break now if it was offered.

3 points are 3 points, some positives to be taken again.

Jan needs to be dropped though, he just isnt up to speed.

Llikewise with RVP, looks a shadow of himself.

Wilson again looked tasty when coming on.

    Shaw coming into himself nicely.

All in all, happy enough and a nice break for rehab, provided we dont get any crappy international injuries.

Commentator mentioned we are considering bringing Nani back in January....Id certainly be up for that if if ment he strolled into this starting spot that januzaj has some how eked out for himself!

City benefit from a dodgy decision. 1-1.Still raging with Smalling over his stupidity last week.

So now that Shaw isn't the worst player in the history of United anymore who is? Fellaini was a close no. 2 up until a few weeks ago but he's been better. It was probably Mata up until today. Maybe Van Persie?

I've been following this thread for months, but this is my first ever post as I only recently decided to get access. So ya...hello.

Didn't see the game today, but it didn't seem great. Obviously a win's a win, and three points is the most important thing, but tbh we should really be putting 4 or 5 past teams like Palace at home. The quality we have in the final third; Di Maria, Rooney, RVP, Falcao when he's fit, Mata etc, there's not much of an excuse.

At least the defence is tightening up a bit, clean sheet today, let in one vs city with ten men for most of the game, one vs chelsea as well. I think I'd almost prefer if McNair was higher in the pecking order than Smalling, his first yellow vs City was absolutely unforgivable imo. Jones and Rojo should be are first choice CB pairing when everyones fit, imo.

One thing that really concerns me is RVP's form. I know he scored vs Chelsea, and on MNF Gary Neville highlighted the intelligent runs he makes, but he's just not half the player he was two years ago. I don't like how LVG seems to want to play rvp, falcao and rooney in the one team. For me, it should be rooney up top on his own with mata behind, and when falcao is back, put mata behind him and rooney in a 442 diamond.

Top 4 is a must, and I think we're on the right track, especially with Liverpool looking dodgey. Win vs Arsenal and I could see us making a run for third.

Seems like McNair is the latest defender to be injured.:(

Our defenders are made of glass, unfortunately not toughened Pyrex.

    More like fine bone china...

I don't think we are on track for top 4, never mind Liverpool I'm not worried about them but Southampton are looking like they are the real deal, only 5 goals conceded all season. That's unreal form. I think to get top 4 we will have to beat Arsenal to it

    Good auld Keith Barry.

I don't want to see Carrick in midfield any more, we were laying with more intent and urgency before he came back.
He was very poor last season.

I'd have Blind, Herrera and Fellaini ahead of him for CM

    Good auld Keith Barry.

2-2 now,QPR are as bad as us at defending simple direct balls into the box.

When McNair got injured today , why did Fletcher come on rather than Blackett I wonder

I wouldnt be too worried about Southampton getting into the top 4. They have done extremely well to do what they've done so far but they have a hell of a lot of tough matches ahead of them. They are yet to play any of the "big" teams in the league apart from Liverpool and Spurs and they lost both of those games.

I know we haven't covered ourselves in glory against the lower tier teams so far but I fully expect that to improve as our defenders get back fit.

I think the top 4 this year will be Chelsea, M.City, Arsenal, Utd.

If our injury crisis starts to abate sooner rather than later we might even push for 3rd IMO.

Although I was very disappointed with today, particularly the 1st half, Im staying positive :)

I thought Carrick had a good game today. There seemed to be too big of a gap between him and the players in front of him but that is not his fault. When Blind was moved into midfield today he was sloppier on the ball than Carrick was. I think LVG style will suit Carrick more than that of Fergie or Moyes.

How many more games does RVP get to find form? He looks jaded. I'd stick Rooney up top at this stage. Not like he has been crazy good as a 10 either

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭mewe

I thought Carrick played well too. He was playing quick balls to the forwards feet from early on and kept it moving well. Jan was the one frustrating me, slowing down the pace of our play at times.

RVP should be dropped. Wilson should start instead of him atm.

Jan is frustrating but he needs to play to improve and there is no other natural winger to play there. If young was fit i think LVG would play him instead so it could be worse. If he is going to stick with this formation we should go for Reus.

Yep Fellaini kept making runs forward, Carrick was basically doing it by himself.

By the time Blind moved into midfield we were sitting back and had proper support from Fellaini.

Yeah but he can run back to his own box and put in a tackle...

Yeah i agree he needs to play to improve alright and i do think in time he'll be a very good player. Maybe a loan spell could be good for him but with the current squad he should get enough game time.

If he's sticking with this formation Nani coming back in January makes sense.
