New Stanley Cara Stove Insert very smokey

Hope someone here can help, we had a new Stanley Cara Stove Insert fitted in the living room fireplace last week, we ran the fires according to the instruction book and the fitter but when we have a nice fire going we get a smoky smell, it does be so bad if I turn off the lights and light a torch the light beam is very blue with smoke all over the house, we open all windows and doors to clear the smoke but the problem is still here over a week after being fitted, we have two Carbon Monoxide alarms fitted but the other half is close to getting it taken out and a fireplace put back in.
Any help appreciated on the smoke issue as its getting on our nerves, cant relax once the fire is well alight with the Smokey smell and smoke in the house. also wondering would we be entitled to our money back if we cant resolve this problem of smoke

Hi Storm,

It may or may not be the Stove that's the problem.

Who did you get to fit it? Did they use a Flexi Flue or just connect to the chimney?

Did you have any problems with draw before you put the stove in? Any smoke coming into the room on calm nights?

Have you a cowl on the top of your chimney?

Can you see a source of where the smoke is coming from? Through a gap in the door? Through the air vents? or is it from around the frame?

Also, was there a vent installed in the room where the stove is fitted?

did you get the chimney cleaned before fitting,? sounds like there is a blockage in the flue.

Thanks guys for the replies we think it's fixed just appear to have had the settings wrong it's great tonight, to answer your questions it's connected by a flexible liner with a cowl on top, chimney was cleaned and there is a vent fitted in the room, I could not see where the smoke was coming from could only see a haze in the room, I will see how it's going over the weekend and come back if it's not working ok, thanks to all for the replies appreciate it
