Recommendations for a set of tyres

I've gone 3 years on a set of Dunlop SP01.
Time to change.

- Skoda Yeti, 170 PS AWD.
- 225/50 r17
- Seeking good wet weather performance with good noise rating (as the Yeti is a bit noisy).

Any recommendations welcome.

I've UniRoyal Rainsport 3s (same size as you) on rear of a Peugeot 3008 and very happy with them.

Soft sidewalls, though, so you need to be careful and also confident with the driving abilities of others who might be behind the wheel ...

I'd say I won't be the only one to recommend these.

Regarding sidewalls....

Do you mean there are issues with vigorous cornering?

No, but being rubbed/mashed against kerbs when parking is not good for them. They're less tolerant than tyres with harder sidewalls.

Hitting deep potholes wouldn't be the best for them either.

With tyre manufacturers trying to get better ratings for the new labelling system for tyres they are really shaving off any excess rubber that's not needed and on most premium tyres the sidewalls are gone very soft and won't stand up to any punishment for a kerb or pot hole

Thanks! Useful to know about the Rainsport3s - just got two of these at the front at the weekend and it's like driving a new car (it's an 05 Laguna!), but I'd been wondering what to look out for with them!

Can't say I got them because of great research - just a filthy day, about to drive down the N20 (plus diversion backroads through Doneraile) and getting the best rated tires for the wet seemed a good idea!
