Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

1 - Round Tower
2 - Skerries
3 - St Benildus :)

11 - Phibsboro
12 - Celbridge

How are Aer Lingus faring? Very small club and they forfeited a few games last season. Will they grow and survive the season, or will they merge with someone like Malahide? Be a shame; nice place for a game is the ALSAA

oooh Round Tower marginally lost their opening match. A very strong Div 4 this year

Has the league website changed from LeinsterChess.com to ChessLeague.net again so?

I was wondering where they were gone...

Both were updated last year

I didn't know chessleague.net was still active. I hope they keep leinsterchess.com up to date, that's where everyone will go looking for tables and results. Hopefully it's just some disruption around the change in league controllers.

They're not being run off the same back end are they? So someone had to put the same data into two different websites all last year? That sucks, it's twice the effort for twice the potential for making mistakes...

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Celbridge 4-2 St Benildus

Bit of a weakened team from us (two subs and no board 6), but still, not a great result considering we beat them 4½-1½ last year.

There's my predictions completely out the window!

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Bray 1½-3½ Aer Lingus

Bray forfeited on one board; all the others were draws (as is so often the case with Aer Lingus!)

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Inchicore 3½-2½ Phibsboro
Portmarnock 3-3 Elm Mount

Skerries 2 Curragh 4

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Curragh 4 Bray 2

A much closer match than the scoreline suggests.

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Aer Lingus 3½-2½ Celbridge
Phibsboro 2½-3½ Portmarnock

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

St Benildus 2-3 Dún Laoghaire

One game to be played next week.

Not a bad result for us really. Dún Laoghaire are quite strong!

Round Tower 4½-1½ Inchicore

Elm Mount v Skerries is on Monday, and the last game of St Benildus v Dún Laoghaire is on Wednesday. Will aim to have the league table updated by the end of the week (pending all scorecards being in of course), but for now, the league table is -
Pos	Team MP	GW	GD	GL	Def	Pts
1	Curragh 2	6	4	2	0	8
2	Aer Lingus	2	3	8	1	0	7
3	Round Tower	2	5	4	3	0	7
4	Celbridge	2	5	3	4	0	6 1/2
5	Dún Laoghaire	1.83	4	5	2	0	6 1/2
6	Portmarnock	2	5	3	4	0	6 1/2
7	Inchicore	2	3	4	5	0	5
8	Phibsboro	2	3	4	5	0	5
9	St Benildus	1.83	3	2	6	0	4
10	Bray/Greystones	2	1	7	4	1	3 1/2
11	Elm Mount	1	2	2	2	0	3
12	Skerries	1	1	2	3	0	2

Dún Laoghaire 3½-2½ Celbridge

Slight issue with one of the round 2 scoresheets - it's gone missing, to be blunt! - but will have the league table updated on the website soon.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 285 ✭✭checknraise

I assumed everything was done online and the league table updated automatically once the results matched both captains score sheets. Shows you what i know!!

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Nope. It goes into a series of about 6 Excel spreadsheets, gets checked for contradictions and then gets sent on to the divisional controller to upload!

It may well be possible (probably should be possible) the way you suggest. But does anyone know how to code such a system?

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Portmarnock 2-4 Round Tower
Inchicore 2-4 St Benildus
Pos	Team MP	GW	GD	GL	Def	Pts
1	Dún Laoghaire	3	8	6	4	0	11
2	Round Tower	3	8	6	4	0	11
3	Celbridge	3	7	4	7	0	9
4	Portmarnock	3	6	5	7	0	8 1/2
5	Curragh 2	6	4	2	0	8
6	St Benildus	3	6	4	8	0	8
7	Aer Lingus	2	3	8	1	0	7
8	Inchicore	3	4	6	8	0	7
9	Elm Mount	2	5	2	5	0	6
10	Phibsboro	2	3	4	5	0	5
11	Skerries	2	4	2	6	0	5
12	Bray/Greystones	2	1	7	4	1	3 1/2

As a correction to my earlier post, I believe there's only one relegation spot this year due to Kilkenny's withdrawal from the Heidenfeld. So all divisions (bar the Armstrong and O'Sullivan) should be one down two up to compensate.

But don't hold me to that. :)

Nice recovery! How did Dun Laoighre and Portmarnock get on last night?

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

In fairness, Bray were very weak. They had four subs, and a 700 on board 2. We should be safe now, but nothing more than that.

Nice recovery! How did Dun Laoighre and Portmarnock get on last night?
3½-2½ to Dún Laoghaire

Means the table after round 6 is -
Pos	Team MP	GW	GD	GL	Def	Pts
1	Round Tower	6	20	9	7	0	24 1/2
2	Curragh 6	18	10	8	0	23
3	Elm Mount	6	17	8	11	0	21
4	Dún Laoghaire	6	16	9	11	0	20 1/2
5	Skerries	6	18	2	16	0	19
6	Aer Lingus	6	8	20	8	0	18
7	Inchicore	6	13	10	13	0	18
8	St Benildus	6	14	6	16	0	17
9	Celbridge	6	13	7	16	0	16 1/2
10	Portmarnock	6	11	8	17	0	15
11	Bray/Greystones	6	9	12	15	1	14
12	Phibsboro	6	6	5	25	0	8 1/2

Hard to see a way back for Phibsboro. Elm Mount v Round Tower and Dún Laoghaire v Skerries next round.

Officialy, 3 Teams to be promoted from Divisions 4-7 this year. This is due to only 1 team being relegated from Division 2.

Good news?!

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

From divisions 3 to 7.

Good news? Yes if you're going for promotion. No if you're going for relegation!

I think in previous seasons, one down two up was the usual way to fix a gap in the leagues. I don't think it really matters which is used. It suits us as it makes promotion from the Bodley that bit easier and I don't think the O'Hanlon are in any relegation danger. :)

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

It's good news for us too. I think you would be getting promotion from the Bodley in any case.

Only 2 teams are going up from the Ennis not 3.

Duh. Of course.

We're flying in the Bodley, but this now means we can slip against ye and still be ok. Right now, it gives us a further one point gap back to non-promotion. It's nice.

Just realised our Bs are well down the bottom though! Oh well. Tis only a game sure.

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

I'd much prefer to be fighting for promotion or relegation than to be mid table. Makes it more exciting to have something to play for!

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Well that's true alright. This has more spots going than one-down-two-up

• Registered Users Posts: 7 EarlofCurragh

So the interesting question is...

Who will get 3rd place in Division 4, Elm Mount, D. Laoghaire or Skerries. Could/will D.L. overtake Curragh ?

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Still all to fight for. No plaques for 3rd place!

It seems that there are many strong teams in the lower leagues at the moment, which makes the three up, two down system preferable in my opinion.

That too!

How did Dun Laoighaire do versus Skerries?

• Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Dún Laoghaire 3½-2½ Skerries
Bray/Greystones 4½-1½ Celbridge
Phibsboro 1½-4½ Aer Lingus
Elm Mount 1½-4½ Round Tower

So the league table is -
Pos	Team MP	GW	GD	GL	Def	Pts
1	Round Tower	7	24	10	8	0	29
2	Dún Laoghaire	7	19	10	13	0	24
3	Curragh 6	18	10	8	0	23
4	Aer Lingus	7	12	21	9	0	22 1/2
5	Elm Mount	7	18	9	15	0	22 1/2
6	Skerries	7	20	3	19	0	21 1/2
7	Bray/Greystones	7	13	13	16	1	18 1/2
8	Celbridge	7	14	8	20	0	18
9	Inchicore	6	13	10	13	0	18
10	St Benildus	6	14	6	16	0	17
11	Portmarnock	6	11	8	17	0	15
12	Phibsboro	7	7	6	29	0	10

Curragh 5-1 St Benildus

Round 3 at the end of the month (Bodley), followed by another Bodley game in March. We'll have to win one of those!
