Does anyone else think that L/H is the most overrated and over hyped show of all time?
Apart from a bunch of dublin nomarks, stony faced guards, criminal travellers, living their lives-then-whats the story? The show has zero substance and wouldn't hold a candle to a series like 'breaking bad'.
Oh breaking bad, one of the best series of all time, with a final budge of 3 million dollars per episode?
Of course it's not as good as Breaking Bad but as far as Irish series go it's a brilliant one.

Every series can be put down with a one liner you just used there. Whats breaking bad about, criminal teachers, one liner FBI guys, living their lives selling drugs - what's that all about?
Indeed there are as many "holes" in the plots of great series as there are in L/H but some people seem intent on pointing them out in L/H.

It's a good series that provides entertainment for the masses in an other wise brainnumbing soup of "entertainment" like, XFactor, strictly come dancing/iceskating/cooking/ etc etc

Has anyone mentioned about Paulie sussing that there is a rat in the organization? How does he come to this certain conclusion? So the cops are on his tail. That surely is expected to happen. Cops tail criminals. We all know this. It wasn't the first time that he and his cronies had met at the zoo. Maybe I missed something that led Paulie to be so confident that it had to be a rat for the cops to be at the zoo?

He'd just arrived and the cops were already there in position around the meeting point. It doesn't take a genius to realise they knew in advance.

Comparing a show that has a 600K/episode budget to Breaking bad, which has 3-4 million. Okay....

And make sure they pay attention and listen to what is going on. Actually confiscate phones etc on the way in. :D

Then anybody coming on here asking stupid questions will get a public beating :(

Go easy on me folks, but who's Nidge?

Also, what city is Love/Hate set in?

    It is called Love/Hate, yeah?

    Bite me..

I apologies that unlike you I don't have time to watch a series more than once to remind myself of a character from 2 or 3 years ago. Also that I couldn't place the name with the character from his couple of episodes... (was he in season 2?)

So you're suggesting that they would write a better storyline or plot if they got paid more? As for Nidge? I've seen more menacing looking blokes playing corner back for Borrisokane !

    point A:
Well yes...more cash would mean more shows and less cramming.

    point B
In fairness TVL is a great actor, and if your corner backs can act as good as him maybe they are in the wrong job.
John Gilligan for example is a midget.

Probably, most of the big American shows employ teams of writers to work on series with the creator overseeing the work , Stuart Carolan writes all of Love/Hate, no matter how good he is, the show would almost definitely be better if they had a team of writers working on it.

I have problems with a lot of the actors in this show but Nidge certainly isn't one of them. He's the best things about the show.

    Absolutely.

He clowns it up when he has all his plates spinning in the air, like schmoozing Terence Big Balls etc.

But when he was in the car with Aido telling him that the hit on Patrick had gone wrong again and he went ballistic about the eye-for-an-eye and his own family being in the firing line now, it was utterly brilliant.

That's not a very valid point to make though. He's not portrayed as a hard man in his own right, he gets others to do the dirty work - or at least be right beside covering his arse for him when he does it.

He screwed up killing the traveller a few seasons ago, he did a legger this season when they attacked him, he hid under the bed when Lizzie got into the house.

He's not menacing because of what he'll do, he's menacing because of what he'll have done.

It is all opinions really, I struggled through Breaking Bad (esp. the first three series) and would never contemplate rewatching it (in comparison with the Wire for example)

I enjoy Love Hate alot more, I dont expect everyone to agree, the world would be boring if that was the case. Think this series has been good. The fact more people watch it definitly adds to it as well

We know he can use a baseball bat............but can he use a hurl? That's what Dan wants to know :-0

Yeah thats it. The likes of Fran will be menacing and jump in to a scrap, likely getting themselves killed or maimed, but Nidge just wants to survive intact. Then he'll have you killed. Sounds like the more sensible alternative to losing an eye or being crippled.

Will be avoiding it just in case, but didn't one of the papers last week have a spoiler that turned out to be complete rubbish?

Suppose the gang keep using the azoo for meetings because the fuzz will think they wouldn't use it anymore, and during a meeting of Nidge and Fran - who is out on bail - to settle their differences, Nidge accidently falls into the lion enclosure and is attacked by three male lions who are about to tear him limb from limb, when Fran jumps into the enclosure and one of the lions manages to escape with its life?

There was actually something going around about this season having 12 episodes in total. Then I heard it was split, 6 now and 6 more in January. Then I heard that its just this 6. Rumour mill is in full swing.

I dont know whats in store for the future but I think its getting to the stage where they should end it

Edit: Just read this on wiki,

Series five of the show will contain six episodes and started on 5 October 2014, with the final sixth season scheduled to air in 2015. The fifth series began filming on 18 March 2014 and lasted three months, with several weeks of production taking place in Spain.

Season 6 will go ahead, I read somewhere during season 4 that they confirmed season 5 and if season 5 gets the ratings the season 6 will get the go ahead. I cant find the link anywhere.
