Paulie's funeral is going to be entertaining for sure.

    That was unreal.

    1. Siobhan knows fran has gits bone. Thats the ra after him and nidge.

    2. Fran is toast with the ra and his new prison buddy around

    3. I had a feeling that the scottish lad was a plant. Reminds me of the fbi lad theylanted in the mafia that was almost a made man. Cant remember the movie with deniro in it but i read the book back when and was they same had him planted as a jewel thief drinking at a bar for a year so he was known.

    4. I really liked the scene where he was weighing the internal dilemma in his mind. He chose to kill him in cold blood.

    5. Terrance big balls is gonna be angry......

    Brilliant series.

Good to see an episode end without the customary/cliched tastefully selected song scene.

Yep. Agree 100%. They were starting to get on my nerves. Some scenes are so powerful, they don't need a backing track. Tonights last scene was one of them.

Patrick is probably my favourite character. Even this episode just had so much explanation about his values and ideals. That episode was brilliant. Probably the best since S3 Finale. It's gonna kick off next week. Noelie vs Fran, Patrick vs Nidge, Ado possibly going against Nidge, the probable return of Big Balls to Ireland, Scotty the rat.. Bloody hell they have so much to show next week.

Anyone describe the preview for me? Was watching on the RTE player.

EDIT: Also fair play to Peter Coonan again this week. Even with short screentime, he's bloody amazing. Genuinely scared by his outburst in the cell.
Also, what role can Tommy play in episode 5 and 6?

Looks like Git is finally getting a funeral. Did they kill or just kneecap his son?

Was that scene at the end of next weeks trailer a giveaway?

Can all talk of trailers please bollix off, or at least spoiler them.

    Why?

It was just a heavy episode. a child being shot, and Paddy who never had any trouble before nidge has now killed another family's member, opening up a whole other feud between them.

    poor paddy.

Guess I'm just soft and see/hear too much of it down here.

There was nothing in the trailer to be honest so it's safe enough.

Did not expect Pauley fally. Not at all.

Great episode but I was rooting for Patrick again and had a feeling his son would end up in the crossfire -

Jaysis I'm exhausted after that. What an episode :eek:
Are there only 6 episodes in this series ?

Patrick has developed into a hell of a character.

Indeed - they've really flehsed him out.

It would have been so easy for RTE to be lazy and give a Traveller cliche - I'm glad to see they didn't, and included proper character development. I'm not quite sure what Pavee Point were complaining about a few weeks back - out of all the factions, the Travellers seem to be the least dodgy of them.

Can't wait to see that scene with the mad junkie house again on the +1. Bizarre and funny and grim all at the same time.

I was cracking up at that, bizarre and hilarious at the same time! :D

Great episode but the scene where Paulie dead was ruined for me because of these posts last week...

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=92681821&postcount=2257

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=92687172&postcount=2391

Now these were posted without any spoiler tags. Mods had to later add them. Once Paulie sat up on the rail I knew it meant that spoiler was true. So annoyed, as Im sure many others are here that read those last week. Makes me want to give up on this thread even though I enjoy reading it. Actually I would like to see people like price690 banned for so blatantly spoiling future episodes on the rest of us.

they'll be on Joe Duffy on Tuesday complaining about Patrick feeding the young fella chicken nuggets and chips :pac:

I'm sure John Connors had a lot of input on his character. He carried that episode brilliantly. Would be a shame if he was typecast, what an actor. Glad Paulie wasn't the heir to the throne as some people had suggested.

    Donnie Brasco

And it was Al Pacino, not DeNiro :)

I agree. Paulie was harmless and Scotty purposefully missed Patrick.
Swell guys the pair of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Goodfellas was a film! Or series of films anyway. Small screen works better when longevitized in my opinion. All the same excellent episode but real pity its all so rushed. For example the paulie and siobhan stuff is just forgettable! Was no development in their relationship to be significant. patrick scenes were great

Surely the whole point of Love/Hate is to portray the fact that, in the criminal underworld, life is nasty, brutish, short and eminently expendable?

If you want character development, watch Downton Abbey instead ;)

Paulie pays the price for the white runners. Patrick a pipe bomber with god on his side not that uncommon when I think about it. great episode

True but Pavee point were going to butt in unless the travellers in the show spent their time on screen curing cancer or paying income tax, the portrayal is fair and Patrick's actor is a traveller himself, very well handled by RTE.

Very good episode but could they not have found a better way of exposing Siobhain than "I thought you woulda got me a cuddly toy from the zoo"? Weak writing.
