I'm for whatever means you don't have to go to school/work in the morning while it's still dark. I like bright evenings but there's nothing as depressing to me as having to start the day while it still feels like night.

It was brought in to prevent kids having to walk and cycle to school in the dark. The spoilt little shits are all driven up to the school's front door in their yummy mummy's Hyundai Santa Fe these days, so get rid of it.

They go back OP, I agree and anyone who disagrees is winding you up.

I think it's stupid why do we do it anyway. Is there actually a reason?

I'm not sure about now. I know in the 1970s when they tried to away with daylight savings, the darker mornings caused more children to be hit by cars walking to school as it would be dark until nearly 9am. They'd be walking home before it's dark in the current system as well as walking to school in the light also. So I guess it was seen as the best compromise. But how many kids walk to school these days?

Extra hour for Netflix binging. Woo!

After tomorrow, I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree with it.

this happens every year, the clocks actually go back to normal tonight, we're on GMT until the spring then we go to BST now were going back to GMT

if people want to get rid of it then stop putting the clocks forward in spring............or stop putting them back in October...........whatever *goes back to watching TV
    .

Other way around ! Normal time for ireland is the time between March and October. It is the opposite way around in the UK.
Have a look at the standard time act 1968. We dont have BST in Ireland. We have standard time in the summer and then we go to GMT for the winter. Anyway, back to an extra hour of Netflix :)

I'm all for leaving it as it is now for the full year. Last year the government were supposed to address the issue, but it just disappeared.... One of the problems with not putting them back would be being an hour behind the UK (not sure what other countries in Europe) for half the year, making things awkward.

It's 35 minutes past One, and twenty five minutes to One!

Thankfully I have an old skool analogue clock - which removes all doubt as to whether my phone has automatically made the bi annual BST adjustment or not.

We should stick to Grenwich Mean Time all year round. It's just plain stupid.

To maximise daylight, we should put the clocks back one hour every morning and then forward again in the evenings.

I like it the way it is... where the clocks get adjusted the hour in spring and autumn

How does 25hrs in the day mean you lose time?

No we shouldn't. Jesus wept you would think that people would be used to hour changes at this stage. It's well worth getting an extra hour in the summer. I'd prefer 2.

What time is it now? 1 or 2? I've no idea if my clock automatically reset and I've to set an alarm for the morning

The whole problem is we can't change without the UK doing the same.
Can't have the republic an hour behind\ahead of norn iron!

I reckon stop this crap, I don't want it to be dark at 4.30pm for four months!!

Let me hibernate and I couldn't care less about the time change. I hate the winter. Wake me next April.

It should be done away with, it's a ridiculous scheme that serves no good purpose any more.

It was introduced something like 100 years ago to give farmers and children walking to school more light in the mornings. It's not required any more, farmers don't need day light to work any more, they have machinery with lights and sheds and milking parlours are lit up now. Streets are lit and very very few if any children walk to school in rural areas so it serves no meaningful purpose.

Leave the clocks alone. Extra hour in bed , my arse. I'm up since 5.30 with 2yr old, and like a cnut with tiredness. It's going to be a long day:'(. Won't somebody think of the parents??

The ones who do walk to school would be dressed head to toe in high visibility gear so I wouldn't worry too much.

The other side is that it's dark when most people have free time. So you spend your free time in the dark and probably indoors. We are less likely to take part in social events because it's dark and cold and hour earlier. We are a social species and this hour reduces our chances of engaging with other people in our free time and leads to less fulfilled lives.

    Pooh I say
