I have an Eircom adapter which if I remembr correctly doesn't allow fr an Ethernet broadband connection input. Is there an adapter to allow for this?

Look around, there seems to be adapters for about everything.

What model router? Generally you cannot convert asdsl wan port to Ethernet. Best thing is to configure it as an access point and use that with your existing router.

If it is a Netopoa 2247 it can be set to work in this mode and their newer routers probably have the same feature, sit down and look through the advanced options. If using an old 2247 it's a PoS so you should probably invest in something that you can flash DDWRT or Tomato firmware on.
