Re. Maintaining the speed from earlier in the year, it's easier to maintain than develop but I think the trick is trying to fit something in every two weeks or so without undermining what you are trying to achieve in the current training block. Magness points to a way which might be worth a look.

I'm hesitant to give you advice as you've much more experienced than me.

But for what it's worth, I think a good strategy for sub 2.35 would be to run a quicker than necessary first half. You're more than capable of doing this. You have speed, you have endurance. I wouldn't be afraid of running fast.

Arrived over in Frankfurt after a short, rather worrying flight delay and in an unusual twist of fate, ended up sitting beside Hibernian Runner (another of the Boards Frankfurt continent) and we all shared the plane with Snoop Dogg and his entourage of sizable bouncers. Rock 'n' roll lifestyle ain't what it used to be!

Headed up to the expo and picked up our numbers and personalized pace bands (which are really cool). Early night, though I'm breaking my beer abstention pledge to enjoy a couple of bottles of nice cold German beer. Meeting some of the lads for the pretzel run in the morning, which should be a bit of craic. Going to try and sneak under 16 minutes for the 5k, then going to do a quick recce of the course. That could be just the beer talking though.;)
