    Wow.

Some serious negativity here this week. Its like people go out of their way to watch five minutes and bash it.

    Genius writing.

    1. The line up for Fran's graveyard pissing to come back to probably being his death.

    2. Siobhan telling The cops Paulie met Elmo. Nidge thought he had a perfect henchman outside of his circle that he could trust to bring in the gear. They will see him selling gnomes and make the connection on the drugs coming in. Its always the little things that catch you out.

    3. Prison scene was gritty and excellent.

    4. Drugs scene was done well imo. I thought she was going to fall and Nidge would kill Paulie for it.

    5. The music was outstanding. Again.

    6. Aidos missus playing away will surely be used to blackmail her later.

    7. The recurring theme of Janet asking Nidge to sort her son out. I feel a Moment coming where he is the person that ultimately whacks Nidge. Like
Omar getting killed by a random popper
in the Wire which nidge could have avoided with a chat.

I think people around here should get free spoons so they can be spoonfed every week. Nidge is the bald guy with the scar on his head. Fyi.

A huge problem in my opinion is that people spend the whole episode on their laptops or phones commenting on the show and then end up missing out on stuff.

Guilty as charged but I think that can be said about most TV these days.

It always takes me a second viewing to take it all in.

Yeah. Decline is there for all to see. Plot holes and pacing issues everywhere. There for all to see. Emperor has no clothes except the sheep of Eire don't wanna look....

I'm watching in the UK and think series 5 so far is a big improvement on the last. I would say it's currently the best show on TV just now along with Peaky Blinders.

Am I the only one who thought that was a very decent episode?

This thread is nearly unbearable. Full of people

    (a) who have no idea whats going on and no memory of the plotpoints in previous seasons
    (b) whinging about a "decline" in the show. Seriously? Go watch Season 1 and 2, its the same quality stuff. If you don't like it, go break out your boxset of The Wire

I was thinking the same thing about Aaron, she's asked him way too many times now for it not to be significant!
And siobhan mentioning Elmo is going to have big repercussions. She's the only one who saw paulie talking to him. Paulie is gonna get suspicious soon

Load of bollox, the 3 episodes so far this year have been better than anything last season.

Siobhan is strange she is visiting Tommy in hospital but tried to shag Darren in her bed while he was in hospital the 1st time and now again she is shagging a Paulie chap who she barely knows but is ratting on to the Garda in the car.She was also a bit flirty with him too.She got violently raped and said it was like being poked with a dirty stick.I would say she would not be having sex like this after the rape.Very eager to be a rat too and betray Paulie Trish Nidge not to mention herself and Tommy are dead if she gets caught. What is she getting out of being a rat, revenge for Tommy who is in a coma? But she shags every 1 while he is asleep.Strange girl.

Her character makes absolute no sense whatsoever. Ridiculous, and beyond believable.

Why would Fran kill Paulie over Siobhan?
Your last line is correct though :)

I really hope Tommy either dies or wakes up in the next episode. I'm getting pissed off at his 1 bedridden scene per week.

Deadend story line. Why waste time on it if episodes are so few???

Dont know what people are on about. This was the best episode in the last two years of a show which has been (lets face it) disappointing since season 3 ended.

In that time (as far as I can remember anyways) people here have defended the show by saying that its better than anything RTE have done to date eg Glenroe, Ballykissangel & the Clinic ( shows that are so pointless they wouldn't even get aired in most countries) & in the process completely missing the point of Love/Hate & television drama in general.

This episode was on a par with season 3 imo. Maybe it was the absence of the Gards ,maybe it was just unpredictable but it was part of the reason why I liked the show in the first place. Good to see Siobhan, Elmo & Aido having a part , extremely believable & authentic characters. Good drama /episode.

According to some this is as good as, if not better than The Wire.

It was a very slow drawn out episode and that wasn't due to a lack of killings. The whole pub scene was hilariously bad. It was like watching some crap from the 1990's. The episode did pick up a bit but by then I was nearly asleep.

The pub/club looked a rip off of Train spotting. It's like there isn't enough story to tell so let's waste time with a rubbish homage.

Total bollocks. That whole pub drugs scene was just cringe worthy. And the acting seems to have dropped through the floor. That Paulie actor is borderline laughable.

Have to agree. Not sold on Paulie at all. Far too forced. He's more comical than gangster.

As for the pub? It's an absolute hell hole yet we're meant to believe that at night it becomes this mecca rave zone full of young ravers and party goers?

I think Paulie will cop on to Siobhan ratting on Nidge to the Gardaí, he seemed suspicious tonight when she said she was at the hospital that late visiting Tommy

I did laugh at Nidge going on about the disgrace Siobhan was cheating on poor comatose Tommy after all Nidge was the one who battered him and now many times has he cheated on Trish :p

I still wish Trish was used more

Poor lazy writing again. In the middle of a gang war dean opens the door for a pizza he didn't order ? Jaysus this is rubbish.

I was thinking the same. But you'd be surprised how many criminals answer their front door, at any time of the day to be shot dead.

Personally, I thought this was a good episode. Plenty of violence and tension. Dean switching sides reminded me of series 4 episode 4 with Wayne changing sides too. I predict he will end up the same way?

So, Noelie does not seem interested in whacking Fran inside .. until Nidge tells him about the type he dug up his mother! Expect a violent fight between the 2 of them soon.

At the halfway point, here are some general comments so far.

1 fatality in Lizzie. A lot of failed attempted hits on Nidge, Paddy, and Fran. Nidge and Fran are enemies at present.

The IRA are not in this series I'd say but one does not know from episode to episode who will feature. Like Paddy came into it in episode 4 of series 4 and lead to the revival of the pipebombing of Linda story.

Tommy plays no role in this apart from being in a coma. I predict he will die soon and this will impact on Siobhan. Pauley is becoming obsessed with her, Nidge is not pleased and Terence would not be either. Apart from being with Siobhan, Pauley was doing nothing else tonight: anyone could have come for Nidge and it was Elmo and Ado who were minding him with Pauley nowhere to be seen a lot of the time.

Nidge resents Pauley from what he said and he will use any excuse to get rid of him. If Terence knew he was more interested in Siobhan than minding Nidge ..
